Magdeburg collect extremely important points in the battle to avoid relegation and can now consider their survival in the league as good as secured. After a balanced first half, Magdeburg pulled the plug on Holstein Kiel with three goals inside an hour. Kiel did manage a consolation goal just before the final whistle, making for a scoreline that is fair overall, yet Magdeburg's away win was deserved across the full 90 minutes.
