Memorable cup victory

Kiel last beat Hertha 24 years ago, when they prevailed as a third-division side against their Bundesliga opponents in the DFB Cup. The Storks' last league win over the Old Lady was a 2-1 home victory in Bundesliga 2 in September 1980.

Rare visitors

Because Kiel have only visited Hertha once in the last 40 years (playing out a 2-2 in March 2024), the Old Lady's last home victory against the Storks in Bundesliga came all the way back in February 1981 (a 5-1 victory).

Unbeaten against former employers

Fabian Reese came through the ranks at Holstein Kiel, contributing to 42 goals in 109 Bundesliga 2 matches for the Storks, including 11 goals and ten assists in his final season with the club. Reese has never lost against his former employers, winning three times and drawing the other three.
