Full-time: Braunschweig 1-2 Münster

After an intense match with plenty of fight and few clear chances, it's the visitors who walk away with a crucial three points. Braunschweig took the lead from a set-piece through Frenkert after the restart and maintained control for long periods, but failed to hold on to their advantage. Münster became significantly more active after their substitutions, equalising through Hendrix, before the comeback was completed by a stunning free-kick from Batista Meier. Despite being a man down in the closing stages, the visitors defended their lead cleverly to secure the win.

Final pass missing

Braunschweig are having great difficulty creating clear chances from the pressure. Time and again, it's the final pass that's too imprecise.

Jaeckel given marching orders!

Ranos pushes the ball past the Preußen man and accelerates away. Jaeckel doesn't manage to reach the ball and clearly takes him out - an obvious foul that has led to him being shown a second yellow card. Preußen must see this one out with a man disadvantage!

Corner fizzles out

Braunschweig bring all their outfield players forward for a corner. However, the delivery is too short and is cleared immediately.

Visitors keep the ball moving

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals> xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals> goals).
Despite an xG value of just 0.55, Münster have turned the match around here. The visitors have shown clinical finishing and have succeeded in making the best out of minimal opportunities.

Batista Meier with a stunner!

Batista Meier steps up to take a free-kick about 28 yards from goal, and elects to have a crack. He hits it beautifully, sending the ball flying into the top right corner. Kastrati gets his fingertips to it but cannot prevent the goal. A perfectly executed free-kick has turned the match around for Preußen!

Too imprecise in the final third

Braunschweig continue to rely on long balls to their quick attacking players. But just like in the first half, too many passes don't find their target and pose no problems for the Münster defenders.
52'

Münster pulling back

Münster are now acting a bit more cautiously. The visitors are allowing Braunschweig to build play up and are only instigating the press from inside their own half.

Well off target

Braunschweig advance with pace down the right. Yardımcı has plenty of space, drives towards the penalty area and shoots, but doesn't connect cleanly with it. His attempt flies well over the bar.

Half-time: Braunschweig 0-0 Münster

An intense and physical first half comes to an end in Braunschweig. The hosts repeatedly put Münster under pressure with high pressing and have created good opportunities, especially from set-pieces, but have so far failed to convert their best chance through Ehlers. Münster have struggled in the build-up, but have created danger through counter-attacks and even had a curious goal disallowed. All to play for in the second half!

Chalked off!

After a corner from the hosts, the ball is cleared far. At the halfway line, there's a misunderstanding between Kastrati and Bell Bell and the pair collide, allowing Batista Meier to run free towards the goal. He scores, but the Preußen man had handled the ball in the build-up and so the goal won't stand.

Huge chance!

Braunschweig get a free-kick in a really dangerous situation. Heußer delivers the ball sharply from the wing to the near post, where Ehlers had made a perfect run to head the ball just over the bar from six yards out. A golden opportunity for the hosts!

13'

Ones to watch

Yardımcı and Opoku have stood out for the hosts so far with their tenacity and running. After some structured build-up play, Aydin looks to send Opoku in behind the visitors' defence, but Preußen are alert and intercept the ball.
9'

Münster under pressure

Münster are having real problems with the high pressing from the hosts. Too often in their build-up play, they are losing possession of the ball and are repeatedly resorting to long balls. As a result, Braunschweig are regularly creating dangerous situations.
5'

Hard tackle

So far, much of the proceedings has taken place in the middle of the park, with both sides being very combative in their early duels. Hendrix takes out Marie at the halfway line and the Braunschweig players immediately protest to the referee to demand the first card, but the official won't be swayed and awards just a free-kick.
3'

Early pressure

Braunschweig have started on the front foot here. After some strong counter-pressing, Opoku wins the ball back and tries to cross from the wing, but the attempt is blocked behind for the first corner of the game.

Milestone for Ter Horst

Today marks Jano ter Horst's 50th appearance in Bundesliga 2, with all 50 coming for Münster.

More on that Münster side

Alexander Ende makes just two changes to his starting eleven compared to last week's 3-2 home defeat to Kaiserslautern, bringing in Marco Meyerhöfer and Jorrit Hendrix in place of Torge Paetow (bench) and Tobias Raschl (not selected).

More on that Braunschweig side

Heiner Backhaus makes four changes to the starting line-up he fielded in last week's 3-1 defeat to Elversberg, bringing in: Kastrati, Aydin, Bell Bell and Yardimci. Hoffmann misses out with a hip issue, whilst Di Michele Sanchez, Flick and Mijatovic take their places amongst the substitutes.

Alexander Ende on facing Braunschweig

"We're not in particularly good form at the moment, but we've got a run of winnable games coming up. We need to get out of trouble as quickly as possible. Braunschweig will play a very physical game. It's up to us to find the right answers to that - and we have."
camera-photo

Heiner Backhaus on facing Münster

"It's a very important game. It's essential that we pick up points at home against Münster, who are a team with a lot of experience and a clear style of play. They haven't won for quite some time, but we need to focus on ourselves to ensure we get the win and stretch our lead over them in the table."
