Full-time: Karlsruher 2-2 Hertha

In a thoroughly entertaining game, Karlsruhe and Hertha shared the points as the visitors were twice forced to fightback despite having the majority of the chances. Fabian Schleusener opened the scoring after just seven minutes with a superb low strike from the edge of the box, before Fabian Reese pounced on a defensive error to level things up after 20 minutes. Sebastian Jung then put Karlsruhe back in front with a stunner from distance, but Hertha eventually found the equaliser they deserved through Jeremy Dudziak towards the end.

Another big chance

Another draw?

Hertha are facing their fourth draw in a row, and if it stays this way, it would be their fifth match without a win. Despite good performances, the Berliners are gradually dropping out of the promotion race.

Half-time: Karlsruher 2-1 Hertha

Karlsruher lead 2-1 at the break in a thrilling match. Hertha have been the more dominant team with more possession and arguably the better chances. However, Karlsruhe capitalised on their first two opportunities to take the lead twice through Schleusener and Jung. Hertha only managed to equalise temporarily through Reese.

Huge chance

That should have been the equaliser. A lovely long ball into the empty Karlsruher half finds Luca Schuler, and he is through on goal. He tries to round Bernat before shooting from a tight angle, but puts the ball wide of the target.
42'

Unusually weak defence

What a chance

Schleusener sets up Ben Farhat brilliantly. He advances alone towards the goal from the half-right position, but the ball bounces a bit too far from his foot, so he can't get a controlled shot away. Instead, he tries to nutmeg Ernst - but hits his heel, causing the ball to go wide of the goal - corner.

Goal frenzy

Good shot

Another good opportunity for KSC. Ben Farhat gets the ball on the half-right in the penalty area and hits it on the turn. Ernst can only parry forward. Schleusener comes flying in and heads the ball from close range, but he has no control over the ball and puts it wide of the right post.

Curious factoid

Current Karlsruhe head coach Christian Eichner played in his team's last Bundesliga match - a 4-0 home win against Hertha - back on 23 May 2009.

Return

Fabian Reese made his first 10 Bundesliga 2 appearances as a Karlsruhe player, but failed to score as they were relegated to the third tier at the end of 2016/17. Against his former club, however, he has scored five times in 11 appearances.

Goals usually the norm

The reverse fixture ended goalless, but that's actually the exception to the rule. In the past three meetings at Karlsruhe's Wildpark, the capital city side have scored 11 times (3-1, 2-3 & 6-2).

Particularly friendly...

Hertha have collected 14 points in the last seven matches against Karlsruhe, with whom they have been closely connected through a fan friendship first established in 1976.
