Full-time: Kiel 0-1 Hertha

The visitors steal three points in Kiel! This was a clinical performance from Hertha, with substitute Kownacki scoring the all-important goal on his comeback. In a match with few major highlights, Kiel lacked offensive threat after a positive start. On the other hand, the visitors defended strongly and struck to move further up the table.

A win a long time coming

Kiel last celebrated against Hertha 23 years ago, when they prevailed as a third-division side against Bundesliga club Hertha in a penalty shootout in the DFB-Cup in September 2002 (it was over after just three takers, as all three Berlin players missed). The Storks' last league victory against Hertha was a 2-1 home win in Bundesliga 2 in September 1980.

Reese had his breakthrough at KSV, contributing to 42 goals in 109 second-division matches for the Storks, and particularly excelled in his final season with Kiel in 2022/23, scoring eleven goals and providing ten assists.
