Kaiserslautern go second!
A huge win for the promoted side as they move level on points with Regensburg at the top of the table after three games. Terrence Boyd was the hero with a goal and an assist as they saw off promotion hopefuls Pauli at the Betzenberg.

ADDED TIME
There's another five minutes to settle this at the Betze!
88'
One back!
But Luthe is in fact beaten from the ensuing corner as Medic meets a flicked header and volleys through a body of players to get one back. One minute of regular time to go for the visitors to get another!
87'
Great stop!
Luthe doesn't want to be beaten today as he sticks out a strong right hand to deny a sweet Zander volley at the far post.
86'
That should be that!
Pauli had committed men up the pitch and are caught on the break. Zimmer plays inside to Boyd on the edge of the box, he lays it left to Redondo overlapping him to the left and the substitute hammers his shot over Smarsch and into the roof of the net to surely wrap things up.
79'
Tough to beat
Luthe wasn't at the club last season but Kaiserslautern still kept an impressive 19 clean sheets in the 3. Liga in 2021/22. This would be their first shutout back at this higher level.
77'
Luthe down again
More brave goalkeeping from the ex-Union Berlin keeper as he throws himself at a free-kick delivered low into his area. Matanovic is on the stretch trying to get there first but catches the goalkeeper, who stays down needing treatment.
74'
Matanovic!
Another chance for the sub as he's picked out on the penalty spot with a pass from the left. Luthe shuffles off his line to make himself big and close the angle, making a smart save to keep Kaiserslautern ahead.
68'
Drinks
It's not got any cooler in the southwest today, so we have another drinks break midway through this half. Pauli goalkeeper Smarsch is the only player on the pitch enjoying some shade.
65'
Should be 2-0!
Lautern make a double change and really should double their lead. Ritter dances into the box from the right and cuts back. It looks a shot from Kraus but it falls to Boyd unmarked at the far post, but he can only turn the ball against the woodwork as he tried to avoid a man on the line. Should be 2-0.
62'
Great interception
Crucial intervention by summer signing Fazliji as he sticks out a leg while retreating to prevent a cross from reaching Boyd unmarked in the box.
60'
Hour gone
And it's still Kaiserslautern who lead at the Betzenberg. They're going second as it stands.
58'
Matanovic!
Best we've seen from Pauli today. Daschner, now in a deeper role, plays a perfect through ball into the path of Matanovic. The angle is tight but he draws a good stop out of Luthe at his near post and a corner.

Added time
Three minutes of it to be played after the drinks break and treatment for Luthe.
44'
Even closer!
The Red Devils are pushing for a second before the break. Zimmer with the cutback that's met sweetly on the volley by Wunderlich just inside the box and pinged just wide of the post.
43'
Over the top
Another dangerous set piece from the hosts as Kraus meets a corner from the left. His header loops onto the roof of the net, though.
41'
Tidy play
The people of Kaiserslautern know good football. They've been Bundesliga champions twice, have hosted World Cup matches and call the great Fritz Walter their own. And they've just shown warm applause for a lovely bit of slick passing to get out of a Pauli press. Remember that this is the team that finished third in the 3. Liga and only came up via the play-off. They're playing with real confidence.
39'
Huff and puff
It's better again from the visitors but again no end product as they move the ball quickly in the box to try and find a yard of space against a compact Kaiserslautern defence. The shot eventually comes from Eggestein right of centre, but it's dragged wide.

Better from Pauli
Daschner is picked out with a cross from the left. His touch takes him behind the defence but the angle is tight left of goal. In the end his shot looks more like a cross as it fizzes across goal to safety.

Irvine just wide!
He's been the most clinical player in the division this season but can't hit the target this time as the Australian gets up at a corner and places his header just wide of the right post.
25'
Luthe down
The Kaiserslautern keeper snaffles up a cross but the ball pops loose for a moment. He grabs it again but also gets a boot on the finger for his trouble from Boukhalfa, who gets a talking to from the referee. Luthe needs a bit of treatment before we continue.

Drinks break
It's hot today in Kaiserslautern so referee Osmers uses a break in play to call for drinks.

Boyd again
He's been everywhere so far for Lautern and this time Boyd tries to beat Smarsch from 30 yards but doesn't quite get the lift on it. He's now scored in back-to-back Bundesliga 2 games for the first time.

Thumbs up from Eggestein
First foray forwards by the visitors with a dart into the box from the left. Eggestein is the target but it's cut out. The strikers gives a thumbs up for the effort anyway.

Too high for Boyd
Kaiserslautern - the promoted side - on the front foot to begin. Hanslik digs out a cross from the left but it's a touch too high for Boyd in the middle, who's only able to flick it on.

Joy and sorrow for Lautern against Pauli
This is the first meeting between these sides since March 2018, when 10-man Lautern managed to snatch a late 1-1 draw at home. However, Pauli are unbeaten in the last seven competitive encounters (W4, D3) and have left the Betzenberg with 10 points from their most recent four visits. The last time the Red Devils won at home to Die Kiezkicker was in November 2013 (4-1). Kaiserslautern’s 32 goals against Pauli (in 18 games) is also the most they’ve scored against an opponent in Bundesliga 2, but their seven defeats is also more than against any other team at this level.

Unbeaten records on the line
Six teams came into Matchday 3 still unbeaten, but Düsseldorf and Heidenheim both lost yesterday to make it just four left. Regensburg overcame that hurdle with a draw, while Kiel are at Magdeburg today. The other two teams yet to taste defeat face off here. Kaiserslautern and Pauli have both started with a win and a draw. Will one be left with nothing today for the first time in 2022/23?
