Uwe Rösler named new Bochum head coach
Bochum have appointed former striker Uwe Rösler as their new head coach, two weeks after the dismissal of Dieter Hecking.
Rösler, who enjoyed a playing career across Europe before coaching in Norway, England, Sweden, Germany with Fortuna Düsseldorf and Denmark, takes over with the club second-bottom of the Bundesliga 2 standings after seven matches. He has signed a two-year deal.
"We're delighted to have found in Uwe Rösler an extremely experienced coach who has also made his mark in Europe and has a wealth of experience," said Bochum managing director Ilja Kaenzig. "He impressed us in talks with his expertise and authority."
Rösler, whose last position was at the helm of Danish side Aarhus, becomes the third Bochum head coach in three years. The 56-year-old will officially take charge on 6 October.
Bochum - relegated from the Bundesliga at the end of last season and with only one league win so far in 2025/26 - visit Kaiserslautern at the weekend, with caretaker coach David Siebers in the dugout.
