Elversberg started on the front foot, pressing Münster high and looking to impose themselves from the first whistle. In the 10th minute, following a short corner, Łukasz Poręba slipped the ball to Tom Zimmerschied, who laid it off perfectly for the returning Bambasé Conté. The midfielder made no mistake, slamming the ball past Johannes Schenk from close range to give Elversberg the lead.

Mokwa doubles the lead

The Ursapharm-Arena had barely finished celebrating when Elversberg struck again. In the 14th minute, a cross into the danger zone was initially missed by David Mokwa, but Lasse Günther kept the ball alive on the left and cut it back into the centre. Mokwa, given a second chance, arrowed a composed finish into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.

Mokwa seals the deal

Elversberg came out for the second half with the same intensity, with Lukas Petkov forcing Schenk into two saves in quick succession. The third goal, and the one that truly sealed promotion, arrived in the 66th minute. Günther played a perfectly weighted pass into the run of Conté, who drove forward before squaring the ball for Mokwa. The striker, unmarked just inside the six-yard box, stroked the ball home with ease to make it 3-0 and rubber-stamp promotion as Bundesliga 2 runners-up.

Man of the Match: David Mokwa

Mokwa was the standout performer on a historic afternoon. The striker scored twice — his first a composed finish after Günther kept the move alive, his second a clinical close-range effort to seal the win — and registered six shots in total, more than any other player on the pitch.

Mokwa's brace was his first in Bundesliga 2, and he could not have chosen a more fitting occasion. His relentless running and sharp finishing were central to Elversberg's victory.
