Full-time: Preußen 1-1 Darmstadt

And that's it! Relegation is confirmed for Preußen Münster, even though they put in a decent performance today and managed to earn a point against Darmstadt whilst being a man down. Nevertheless, on balance, Darmstadt were the better side and should have won with the man advantage. Regardless, it ends in a 1-1 draw.

Darmstadt persevering

In this closing stage, Darmstadt are intensifying their attacking efforts once more, but have so far been unlucky in front of goal.

+ 2

Acrobatic but unsuccessful

Substitute Białek attempts to meet a cross from the right flank with an overhead kick, but sends the ball well over the bar.

Injury time underway

Four minutes have been added on. These are likely the last second division minutes in Münster for at least a year...
90'

Richter!

Richter takes the resulting free-kick towards the right corner, but Schenk is able to distinguish himself once again and claws the ball to safety.
88'

Paetow booked

Paetow handles the ball after going down under a challenge from Corredor and is shown a yellow card.
85'

Offensive substitution

Defender Maglica is replaced by striker Białek for the final stages of the match.
83'

Rondić's shot blocked

There was briefly a shooting chance in the penalty area for Preußen, but the first touch from Rondić was not ideal, allowing Maglica to throw himself in front of it and make the block.
78'

Powerful effort

The defender lets fly from the edge of the box but sends the ball whistling over the bar.
76'

Goalscorer calls it a day

Yamada is replaced up front by Vilhelmsson.
69'

Maglica!

After a corner kick, the ball falls fortunately to the feet of the centre-back, but he skies his shot from close range.
64'

Another chance wasted

With a bit of luck, Bouchama drives forward and finds himself through on goal, but at the last moment he is denied a shot by a sliding tackle from Maglica!
61'

Bolay booked

The Münster brings Corredor down from behind at the halfway line and is rightly shown a yellow card.
60'

Fine cross

From the right flank, Furukawa whips the ball sharply in front of goal, but Schenk dives forward and punches the ball clear.
57'

More in that

Richter drives the ball forward on the counter and lays it off to Corredor out on the right, but his cross is cleared by Münster. The Lilies had the numerical advantage there, but in the end they didn't manage to get a shot off.
53'

Dominant display

The numerical advantage is now clearly showing in this second half. Darmstadt have a lot of possession and are trying to wear down their opponents.
50'

Speculative

Akiyama drives forward and simply lets fly a good 25 yards from goal, but misses the target by about a yard to the left.
49'

Overhit

Preußen break but Bouchama plays an unreachable through ball out to the left, and just like that the chance comes to nothing.
46'

We're back underway!

The ball is rolling again here in Münster. There's one change for the hosts at the break: Schulz has stayed in the dressing room. In his place comes Meyerhöfer.

Half-time: Münster 1-1 Darmstadt

A first half complete with goals on both sides, a red card and a penalty is called to a close. Preußen are playing with confidence and refuse to accept what looks like an almost certain relegation, but Darmstadt now hold the cards with the extra man and are playing fairly calmly.

Lidberg squanders it!

The Swede could have jumped to the top of the goalscorers' charts, but his penalty down the middle is far too casual. Schenk senses it coming, holds his ground and catches the ball.

Penalty missed!

Penalty for Darmstadt!

After a long ball into the box, Makridis misses it, leaving Corredor through on goal. The Darmstadt man rounds Schenk and then gets the contact from the keeper that he gratefully accepts and goes down.
34'

Not giving up

Even though the signs are now very much against them, the home side are actively pushing forward in these minutes and are not sitting back despite being a man down.
30'

Mountain to climb

Things started ideally with the early lead for the hosts, but now the 10 men of Preußen will have to believe in a miracle to keep their chances of survival alive.

Hendrix dismissed!

A brutal foul by Hendrix earns the Preußen captain a red card! He catches Corredor above the ankle with his studs showing after a late challenge. The referee makes no hesitation to brandish the red card in his direction. A nightmare situation for relegation-threatened Münster!
26'

Hendrix!

Hendrix hits a rebound from the edge of the penalty area, but Schuhen is once again there to make the save.
25'

Over the bar

Bolay takes a free-kick from the right half-space. He aims for the far corner, but the ball flies around a yard over the goal.
21'

Double chance for Yamada

Schuhen is forced to make two sensational saves to deny the Japanese! First, the Preußen man tries his luck with a header, before taking a low shot from close range moments after.
18'

Almost a second!

After a one-two with Lidberg, Richter breaks through on the right side of the penalty area, but then fires the ball a good two yard over the bar! There was more in that...
camera-photo

Who else but Lidberg!?

On the left side of the penalty area, Darmstadt's Swedish forward feints twice, before cutting inside and firing the ball crispy into the bottom corner at the near post. An equaliser for Darmstadt, and a real setback for Preußen!

Early substitution

Pfeiffer is indeed not coming back on. He appears to have picked up a muscle injury during a sprint and is being replaced by Dettoni.

A glimmer of hope!

Yamada grabs the early lead! After a long ball into the box he is clean through and slots the ball low through Schuhen's legs! It is particularly bitter for Darmstadt, as centre-back Pfeiffer had to be treated off the pitch when the goal was scored.

Lidberg's battle for the Golden Boot

Darmstadt may no longer be in the promotion race, but they can support their striker Lidberg in finishing the season as top scorer. The Swede currently stands at 16 goals, with only Fürth's Futkeu and Magdeburg's Zukowski (17 each) having scored more.

Last chance saloon

Münster have but one way out to avoid relegation today. They must win, and on top of that, Düsseldorf and Fürth must not pick up any points.

More on that Darmstadt side

By contrast, there are three changes made by Florian Kohfeldt to the starting XI he fielded for last week's 2-1 defeat away to Karlsruhe. Maglica, Pfeiffer and Furukawa (pictured) all start in place of Vukotić, Holland and Papela.
camera-photo

More on that Münster side

Following his side's strong performance in the 3-3 draw at Hannover, manager Alois Schwartz makes just the one change to his starting XI, giving Bolay (pictured) the nod ahead of ter Horst.

Alois Schwartz on facing Darmstadt

"Of course it's not ideal to not have it in our own hands, that's clear. We have to take the situation as it is and do our homework. If others slip up and we don't take advantage of it, that would be even more frustrating."

Florian Kohfeldt on facing Münster

"Münster are a side that fight for everything. For us, in terms of the table, it is 'only' still about fifth place, which would nonetheless be a really fantastic result. Münster are in an extremely difficult position. They need to win their last two matches and still hope for results to go their way elsewhere. They will do everything they can to make that happen."

The Referee Team

Lukas Benen (Referee), Fynn Kohn (Assistant Referee 1), Lennart Kernchen (Assistant Referee 2), Markus Schüller (4th Official), Dr. Arne Aarnink (VAR), Franz Bokop (VAR Assistant).

No success for a long time

Münster's last victory against Darmstadt was a 3-0 home win in the 3. Liga in December 2012. In Bundesliga 2, the Eagles last beat the Lilies in August 1990.
