Goooooal!

Oudenne gets the ball on the left side after a pass from Yokota, leaves Kobald standing and finishes into the far corner. The entire 96 bench jumps up and runs onto the pitch - what a celebration from the Lower Saxony side!

78'

What a chance!

Förster tries to dribble in his own penalty area and loses the ball. Eventually, the ball goes to Nielsen, who wants to slot it into the far corner. Franke is perfectly positioned and clears for the beaten Bernat!

Titz makes a double change, bringing on Nielsen and Kokolo for Bundu and Matsuda.

Phew!

Hannover are increasingly shifting the game into the Karlsruhe half, which is creating counter-attacking opportunities for KSC. After a nice switch of play, Förster receives the ball on the edge of the penalty area and curls it just over the crossbar.

Tricky Situation

Wanitzek drives into the penalty area in a foot race against Okon. There he goes down under the challenge, but the referee deems it insufficient for a penalty.

Bundu shoots from a half-right position, and his shot deflects off Herold, making it tricky. Bernat is there and clears it for a corner. The corner comes to nothing.

Let's continue

96 must win, and therefore, they bring on two sets of fresh legs. Oudenne and Chakroun come on for Neubauer and Nkili.

Half-time: Karlsruhe 1-1 Hannover

It's 1-1 as they head to the dressing room. Karlsruhe started well, but without creating any dangerous chances. The visitors from Hannover then struck clinically through Bundu after a well-crafted attack. After Förster missed the chance to equalise in the 40th minute, it was Schleusener who scored the deserved equaliser in the 44th minute. Plenty to play for at the break.

Goooooooooal!

Förster drives the ball into the opposition half and plays it to Herold on the left, who crosses the ball into the middle. There, Schleusener is able to control the ball, take aim at the goal and score to make it 1-1 with the help of the inside of the post.

That should have been a goal!!!

The home side combine well down the left flank, from where Herold delivers the ball sharply into the middle. Förster gets to the ball completely unmarked in the penalty area but doesn't strike it properly, causing the ball to roll wide of the right post.
36'

That hurts

Rapp takes a ball directly to the body inside his own penalty area and stays down - after a brief moment to catch his breath, the midfield engine continues.
33'

No goal threat

The team from Baden are not playing badly so far and are certainly holding their own. However, they haven't really posed any danger yet.
28'

Not enough

Wanitzek plays the ball to the left to Herold, who delivers it into the middle with his first touch. A Hannover player gets to the ball first and clears it.

Fine tackle

Wanitzek rushes back and wins the ball with a perfect sliding tackle on the edge of his own penalty area.
26'

600th home goal conceded by Karlsruhe

A milestone that won't be celebrated - the opener was the 600th Bundesliga 2 home goal conceded by Karlsruhe. Only Fürth and Osnabrück have conceded more goals in home matches in the history of the second division.
24'

Strong defence

Herold is sent through with a long ball, but Neubauer engages in a clever challenge and wins the foot race.

Bundu again against Karlsruhe

His second Bundesliga 2 goal of the season - he scored his first in the 3-0 win against Karlsruhe on Matchday 14.

Goooooooal

Well played! Neubauer plays the ball from the left side to Nkili, who passes it further into the penalty area to Taibi. He cleverly lays it off to Bundu, who shoots into the far corner to give his side the lead.

Wanitzek receives the ball on the edge of the penalty area and tries to finish with the inside of his foot. Noll dives and saves the ball well.
13'

No danger

Neubauer delivers a cross from the right wing into the middle, but Bernat is there to intercept the ball.

Contested start

Both teams are giving no quarter in the opening phase and are fighting for every ball.
9'

Striving for control of the game

Hannover have been better in the past few minutes and are now trying to shift the play into the opposition half. There have been no shots on goal so far.
5'

Nervous start

Hannover can temporarily jump to third place with a win today. With that knowledge, however, there is a noticeable sense of nervousness in the 96ers' play during the opening phase.
3'

Risky

Hannover lose the ball during the build-up, but Karlsruhe are too imprecise on the counter and cannot capitalise on the error.
1'

And we're off!

Hannover get the ball rolling here in Karlsruhe.

Tomiak makes the bench

After suffering an injury at the end of February, the ever-reliable defender makes his return to the squad for the first time since recovery, taking his place amongst the substitutes. With Hannover still pushing for promotion, the 27-year-old centre-back may yet still have an important role to play in the final stretch of the season.
camera-photo

More on that Hannover side

Christian Titz makes two changes to the line-up he fielded in last week's draw with Paderborn. In the first half of the season, Matsuda (pictured) was a regular down the right, though in the second half of the campaign, his nailed-on-starter status dwindled somewhat. Today he gets to start for the first time in 2026 - ahead of Virgil Ghiță. Bundu is also preferred to Yokota.
camera-photo

More on that Karlsruhe side

Herold is fit again for the starting XI and immediately comes into the team, replacing Burnić. There's also a rare start for Fukuda (pictured) as the Japanese gets the nod ahead of shooting star Ben Farhat, who takes his place on the bench. 15 of Fukuda's last 16 appearances have been from off the bench, with his only start coming in the 5-1 defeat in Nuremberg on Matchday 22.

Christian Titz on facing Karlsruhe

"We'll have an incredible atmosphere behind us in the new stadium. We want to put everything into this home match. We will face a team that is very motivated. They have different facets - they can dominate the game, but also sit deeper."
camera-photo

Christian Eichner on facing Hannover

"Hannover are playing very maturely, as we saw against Darmstadt, for example. They also have a very good manager in Christian Titz, who has shown that he can improve teams with his dominant, possession-oriented football."

The first of many

Marvin Wanitzek scored the first of his 67 Bundesliga 2 goals against Hannover in a 3-3 draw in Karslruhe in October 2019.

Impressive record

Karlsruhe have won four of their last five home matches against Hannover, the exception being a 2-1 defeat in May 2024.
camera-photo

Goals guaranteed?

The two teams have met 25 times in Bundesliga 2, with and none of those games ending goalless. In Hannover's 3-0 victory earlier this season, all three goals were scored between the 67th and 77th minutes.
