Last season was the first time Fürth and Münster faced each other in competitive matches. Although both played in Bundesliga 2 from 1974 to 1981, they were separated in the north and south divisions.

Things are not going smoothly for Fürth either. After a temporary upturn in form with seven points from matches against top teams Schalke, Hannover and Elversberg, Heiko Vogel's side have now lost twice in succession.
