Full-time Paderborn 2-1 Dynamo Dresden

Paderborn showed character, turning around a 1-0 deficit at half-time and securing three important points in the promotion battle. Paderborn thus ends Dresden's run of four unbeaten matches in a row. Given their good performance, Dresden would have certainly deserved a point, but double goalscorer Tigges had other ideas!

Woodwork again!

A free kick from the left sails into the penalty area. Müller puts the ball against the right post from point-blank range. Bad luck for Dresden!

Another free-kick

Another yellow card follows after Kutksche crashes into his opponent. Brackelmann sets up the ball for the free-kick, but blasts it into the Dresden wall.
90'

Header monster Tigges

Six goals, all at home, all with his head! No other player in Bundesliga 2 has scored as many headers in 2025/26.
90'

First yellow card

A very fair match. Here Okpala steps fully on Herrmann's foot.

Multiple substitutions

Both teams make more changes. Paderborn probably want to run down the clock, while Dresden bring on Kutschke as another striker. He and Daferner now form a strike partnership.
85'

He scores a brace again!

Like Dynamo, Paderborn now score from a corner from the left side. Tigges gets his head to the ball in the scramble at the near post and scores a brace again!

Not enough pressure

Tigges tries to lay the ball off with his head to Müller, who could then shoot from near the edge of the penalty area, but the header lay-off is too short.
79'

So close!

After a cross from Tigges, Marino only needs to tap it in from just in front of the five-metre line, but instead of putting the ball into the net, he pushes it narrowly wide. Unbelievable! Schreiber wouldn't have been able to reach that.
78'

Paderborn are back in it!

Obermair cuts in from the left and crosses to the rising Müller. However, he doesn't connect properly with the ball and it flies out for a goal kick.
75'

Double shooting chance

Dynamo had to regroup after the equaliser, now they're coming forward again. After good dribbling from Lemmer, the recently substituted player takes a shot, which is blocked, allowing Amoako to have a second attempt. However, the defensive midfielder puts it well wide of the target.
72'

Triple substitution

Dresden coach Stamm wants to secure at least one point and brings on three fresh legs for this endeavour. Among others, captain Hauptmann leaves the pitch.
72'

Substitution

71'

Strong performance

Paderborn goalkeeper Seimen has already made seven saves, giving him a good ratio. Without him, Dynamo would probably be leading by more goals!

No taker

Daferner has plenty of time on the left side, but immediately crosses the bouncing ball into the centre. The only problem is that there isn't a single Dresden player there.

The dozen is complete

In total, it was Paderborn's 12th headed goal, which is the highest in the league!

The super sub strikes!

Götze holds the ball up, lifts his head and looks for and finds Tigges with his cross at the edge of the six-yard box, who slightly touches the ball with his head and nods it past Schreiber's onrushing fists!

Daferner!

The next big chance, this time it's Dynamo's turn again. Hauptmann plays from the left to the centrally positioned substitute Daferner, but the striker's nerves fail him in the one-on-one. His finish is too central and thus poses no problem for Seimen.

Baur! Unbelievable!

A Paderborn goal is slowly becoming overdue here, considering the chances. Baur also takes a shot from outside the box, and it whistles just past the right post!

Another good chance!

Curda tries a volley from a bit further out, Schreiber makes a strong save to push the bouncing shot away.

Crossbar!

Dynamo play it forward quickly. Bobzien drives the ball up the left side and, upon reaching the penalty area, unleashes a powerful left-footed shot which smashes against the underside of the crossbar!
51'

Paderborn keep going!

Substitute Tigges shoots on the turn from close range, but his attempt is blocked. Paderborn remain briefly in possession, but can't get another shot away.
49'

Offensive foul

Curda wants to receive a cross from the left, but unfairly checks Amoako in the process.
47'

Vermeij again

Hauptmann sends the goalscorer on his way with a through ball, the Dutchman looks for the finish from a tight angle, but Seimen is there to save.
47'

Dresden's strong first halves

Dynamo went into the break with a lead for the fourth time in a row, and in the ten matches of the second half of the season, they were never behind at half-time (led eight times, two draws).

Paderborn coach Kettemann reacts to the deficit at half-time and brings on Hansen and Tigges for Castaneda and Bätzner.

Half-time: Paderborn 0-1 Dresden

Dresden lead at half-time against the promotion contender. The visitors' good run of form is definitely noticeable, they're playing boldly going forward, creating chances and deservedly lead 1-0 at the break. Paderborn certainly won't give up yet, after all they want to maintain contact with the top positions. We'll be back shortly!
Half-time
44'

The match is slowing down a bit

Dynamo pulled back a bit after taking the lead and are letting Paderborn come at them. However, they are currently struggling to create goal-scoring opportunities.
39'

Marino stands out

The striker has been involved in every good Paderborn attacking move so far. Now he wins a corner, which ultimately comes to nothing for the East Westphalians.
38'

Paderborn's premiere

Paderborn have now conceded their first goal from a corner kick this season.
37'

How will Paderborn respond?

They play Marino who gets his shot away, but once again a Dresden leg blocks his effort.
34'

Vermeij is on fire!

For the Dutchman, it's his fourth goal in the last four matches. All of his seven goals this season have been scored since Matchday 13.
camera-photo

Dynamo lead!

The subsequent corner from the left side is perfectly delivered by Hauptmann to the far post, where Vermeij catches Seimen on the wrong foot and heads the ball into the middle of the net.

That wasn't the plan

Müller wants to play the ball from the left into the right side of the penalty area. Instead, the ball flies far behind the Dresden goal.

Lively match

Ceka keeps driving his Dresden side forward down the right flank.

Brilliant save by Schreiber!

Another low shot, and Seimen makes a safe catch again. Nevertheless: Bobzien is playing well and could reward himself for it sooner or later.
20'

Bobzien!

The Mainz loanee fires a low shot after a good solo run – but for Seimen it's rather a comfortable save.
19'

Another good block!

Marino turns and shoots after a pass, but Pauli puts himself in the way of the shot.
17'

High ball recovery

Paderborn are now pressing a bit higher and thus win the ball. Baur seems to be surprised by the ball recovery himself and immediately loses it again.

13'

Huge chance!

Vermeij with a massive chance. After a good through ball, he's clear in front of Seimen and aims his left-footed shot towards the top left corner – but Götze throws himself into the flight path with a sliding tackle and possibly prevents the ball from hitting the back of the net!
10'

Paderborn also makes their presence felt!

Similar situation on the other side: Marino finds Curda with a cross, but he puts his shot over the bar.
9'

First good chance!

Ceka finds Sterner with a chip on the right side. He crosses the ball inside, where Vermeij doesn't connect cleanly with the ball. Nevertheless, it flies towards the goal and Seimen can get a hold of the ball for the first time.
9'

Quiet start

Both teams appear somewhat cautious at the beginning. Not much is happening in the respective attacking thirds, with most of the play currently taking place in midfield.
6'

Control issues

Now Paderborn are on the front foot. Scheller, having pushed far up, receives a high and difficult ball at the right byline, which he cannot control. Goal kick for Dynamo.
4'

Half chance

Amoako spots Sterner in a fairly free position on the right-hand side, who shoots low, but completely misses the target. The ball goes wide to the left.
2'

Down the left

A first long ball along the left touchline is intended for Bobzien, but it doesn't reach him because it's played with too much power.
1'

Kick-off!

The ball is rolling, the hosts have kicked off.

More on that Dresden team

Thomas Stamm can't field the same team for the third time in a row because defensive leader Thomas Keller is unavailable. Young player Friedrich Müller moves into the team in his place and makes his ninth Bundesliga 2 appearance.
camera-photo

More on that Paderborn team

Compared to the draw in the derby at Bielefeld, Ralf Kettemann makes only one change, starting Nick Bätzner instead of Filip Bilbija.

Thomas Stamm on facing Paderborn

"We have great respect for the work that has been done in Paderborn in recent years. Good work is being done week after week, with the clear conviction to carry out their own plan. We don't expect the opponents to be any different just because we had a big win recently."
camera-photo

Ralf Kettemann on facing Dresden

"Dresden played well in the first half of the season, for which they were not rewarded. Dynamo have played against some top teams and have not lost away from home in the second half of the season. Paderborn is a good place for that to change."
camera-photo

Will Baur score again?

It was none other than Mika Baur who scored the winning goal in the first meeting of the season. Baur was on loan at Dresden in the second half of 2024/25 and helped them to promotion (18 appearances, one goal).
