Full-time: Greuther Fürth 2-0 Elversberg

Fürth manage to see their victory over the line, defying Elversberg's dominance at Ronhof. It's a huge three points for the Clover Leaves against promotion-hopefuls Elversberg. A draw would have been fair here as well, especially given Petkov's missed penalty, but through their fighting spirit and clinicality, the hosts deserved the three points in the end!

Reich wraps things up!

And with a classic counter-attack, Fürth secure all three points! Elversberg are completely open at the back. Futkeu holds onto the ball, before picking out the run of Reich, who keeps his cool to slot it past Kristof. Game over!

With all their might

Of course, Fürth are sitting very deep, but Elversberg are not doing any better than in the 90 minutes before, as they still can't find the gap.

Prüfrock gets there!

Schmahl shoots from distance. Keller blocks the shot in such a way that it comes down as an awkward looping ball for Prüfrock to deal with, but the keeper gets his fingertips to it to tip the ball onto the crossbar!

The goalscorer departs

Reich replaces Hrgota, whose goal remains the difference between the sides here. Adam also replaces Günther for Elversberg.
83'

Scuffle

Before a corner, there's a bit of pushing and shoving, resulting in yellow cards for Dietz and Poręba.
81'

Front post

One of these small fouls leads to a set-piece from a good position. Dehm steps up but finds no success at the near post.
79'

Small fouls disrupting the flow

Fürth are throwing themselves into everything and Elversberg are currently lacking ideas. Ten minutes of normal time remain.
76'

Yellow card for Pherai

In midfield, the Elversberg player goes in with a sliding tackle and clearly catches Hrgota.
72'

Bitter record

That was Petkov's third penalty in Bundesliga 2. Of those three spot-kicks, he has missed two (previously also on Matchday 11 against Hannover).
71'

Fresh legs

Wagner makes a double alteration, introducing Keidel and Schnellbacher in like-for-like substitutions.

Fürth stay ahead!

Petkov steps up to take the penalty against his former club, and misses! His effort was too hard and the ball goes over the crossbar.

Penalty!

Prüfrock brings down Petkov in the area and the referee immediately points to the spot.
64'

Will with a chance to make it 2-0!

A second ball falls to the Fürth player, who takes aim directly and strikes it with the inside of his boot. Kristof stretches as far as he can to make the save, else the shot would have gone right into the top corner!
60'

Double change

Schmahl and Conté both come on to replace Zimmerschied and Condé.
59'

Pherai again

That was almost the equaliser! The Elversberg man breaks through and runs alone towards Prüfrock, but then narrowly misses to the right of the post.
58'

Elversberg taking control again

The Saarlanders are playing around the Fürth penalty area and continue to look for an opening. Condé tries a cross, but it sails harmlessly behind for a goal-kick.
camera-photo

Awkward bounce

Hrgota's strike bounced awkwardly just in front of goal, which made it more difficult for Kristof.
51'

Mokwa!

That's Elversberg's best chance of the entire match. Zimmerschied builds up pace on the left and plays it across to the front of the goal, where Mokwa is waiting, but the forward can only hit the side netting with a backheel flick. The match is heating up now!
50'

Fürth keep going

Unlike in the first half, the home side are trying to maintain possession. A free-kick is awarded in the half-space, which Ziereis fires directly towards goal, but Kristof manages to react and parries it away to the side.

Half-time: Fürth 1-0 Elversberg

The hosts head in at the break with their noses in front courtesy of the go-ahead goal from their captain. Both sides have each had one good opportunity to take the lead, but beyond that, gilt-edged opportunities have been hard to come by. Hrgota put the Clover Leaves in front shortly before the break, which will certainly prompt a reaction from Elversberg in the second half.

Fürth stun Elversberg with the opener!

Suddenly, the home side lead out of nowhere and it's the captain on his return to the starting XI! Ltaief finds Dietz, but Dietz's attempted ball forward to Rohr doesn't connect. The loose ball falls to Hrgota, who coolly slots it into the near corner for the opener.

Another shot

Zimmerschied takes the corner from the right and Günther latches onto the second ball before letting fly. His shot flies over the crossbar, though.
36'

Attritional

Neither side has had a clear-cut chance since Mokwa's early opportunity.
33'

Fürth staying compact

The Clover Leaves are doing very well so far and are holding their own against their dominant visitors. Going forward, there hasn't been much happening yet - but the home side would definitely take a point here.
30'

Drought

Pherai is still waiting for his first goal since January 2024. Back then, he scored with a header whilst playing for Hamburg against Schalke.

Making his touches count

Mokwa has only been on the ball five times - the least of all 22 players - yet he's already been involved in two shots on goal.
26'

Pherai!

That wasn't bad either. Günther whips in a sharp cross from the left, where Pherai rises high in front of goal and goes for the header. Leaning back, he sends the ball wide of the right post.
24'

Wouldn't have counted

Will takes a free-kick from distance towards Ziereis, who heads the ball in a looping arc towards the goal. The ball comes down awkwardly and Kristof has to stretch to reach it, which he can't. The flag then goes up for offside, meaning a goal wouldn't have counted anyway.

Off target

Pinckert finds Mokwa, who then lays it off to Petkov, but his subsequent shot flies well over the crossbar.
21'

Good combination play

Srbeny plays a one-two with Hrgota, but then shoots wide of the left post.
19'

Balanced chances

After almost 20 minutes played, each team has managed one shot on goal. However, the one from the visitors posed significantly more danger.

Zimmerschied takes

The Elversberg corner is delivered towards the near post, where Futkeu is positioned. The Fürth man clears it under little duress.
16'

Attack versus defence

The Clover Leaves are currently sitting deep in their own half, while Elversberg are trying to play patiently around the penalty area and wait for an opening. The gap hasn't been found yet, although Zimmerschied and Pektov are frequently trying to beat their opponents on the wings.
14'

Brief stoppage

Condé and Will collide, leaving the Fürth player down on the turf. Following treatment on the pitch, he's now back on his feet and play resumes.
camera-photo

Early Elversberg dominance

As expected, the Saarlanders are controlling the game so far in terms of possession. Mokwa has also already had the best chance of the game so far.
10'

First chance for the hosts

Will finds Ltaief with a long pass, but the Fürth man's follow-up shot poses no trouble for Kristof, who makes a comfortable stop.
5'

First test for Prüfrock

Pherai threads the ball through to Mokwa, who doesn't hesitate and fires a shot goalwards. However, Prüfrock is there to make the save that keeps the scores the level.
3'

Petkov tries to deliver an early cross from the half-space, but it finds no takers in the middle.

More on that Elversberg side

Elversberg manager Vincent Wagner makes only one change to the team he fielded for last week's 1-0 victory over Magdeburg. Condé is back after serving a one-game suspension, replacing Schmahl, who takes his place on the bench.

More on that Fürth side

Following their surprise 2-1 victory in Hannover, Fürth's manager Heiko Vogel makes two changes to his starting XI. Captain Hrgota returns after recovering from illness and Bansé is also back on the pitch for the first time since Matchday 4. The pair take the places of Klaus and Srbeny, who are not selected for tonight's game.

Vincent Wagner on facing Fürth

"I talk every week about how balanced this league is. We can save ourselves the trouble now - just look at the results. Fürth are right back in the mix. I don't need to warn anyone anymore. A nice challenge definitely awaits us."

Heiko Vogel on facing Elversberg

"We no longer need to look at other stadiums, but have it in our own hands. Elversberg are a very good team coming to us, who also have their strengths in attacking possession."
