Both clubs faced each other in the DFB Cup final on 25 May 1996. Martin Wagner scored the winning goal. And after Andreas Brehme received a second yellow card, the 10 men of Lautern secured the victory, with their current CEO Thomas Hengen playing the full 90 minutes.
