Full-time! Dresden 3-1 Darmstadt

What a result for Dynamo, who move a couple of points clear of the relegation zone, for now at least. Despite getting back to numerical parity following Lemmer's sending off soon after the break, 10-man Darmstadt just couldn't find a way to cancel out Dresden's 2-0 half-time lead. If results go against them over the weekend, the Lilies could find themselves outside the promotion places.

Consolation goal

Schmidt has a go following a corner, with Furukawa sticking out a boot to redirect it past the goalkeeper. Surely too late for the Lilies, mind?!

The decisive moment!

Dynamo break as Wagner spots Bobzien on the right. His initial effort is saved by Schuhen, but Daferner is perfectly positioned to poke the rebound over the line. That's surely the points in the bag for the hosts!

Half-time: Dresden 2-0 Darmstadt

A tepid first half exploded into life following Darmstadt defender Patric Pfeiffer's 42nd-minute red card. Vincent Vermeij then served up two quick-fire goals to put Dynamo in complete control, leaving the promotion-chasing visitors with a mountain to climb.

Dynamo in dreamland!

It's all going very wrong for Darmstadt, who are in complete disarray at the back. That allows Hauptmann to find Vermeij for a confident close-range finish.

Breakthrough goal!

The hosts make their numerical advantage count in Dresden. Possession is recycled after Sterner's initial cross from the right was flicked across goal. Klefisch returns the ball with interest, and there's Vermeij with a clinical header.

Darmstadt down to 10 men!

Pfeiffer slips as he goes to play a pass out from the back. Bobzien pounces and tries to run towards the penalty area, before being caught on the shin by the Darmstadt defender. The referee reaches into his back pocket and brandishes the red card.

More on that Darmstadt side

The Lilies must do without Marco Richter, who serves a suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards, and Fraser Hornby, who misses out due to illness. In their stead, Luca Marseiler and Hiroki Akiyama start. There is also a third change as Raoul Petretta is preferred to Fabian Holland.

More on that Dresden side

After Thomas Stamm fielded the same starting XI for the last two matchdays, he has today opted to make two changes. Julian Pauli is fit again and gets the nod ahead of Friedrich Müller, whilst Jakob Lemmer is preferred to Jason Ceka.

Thomas Stamm on facing Darmstadt

"Just like earlier in the season, we expect them to be very powerful and physical. They are very dangerous from set-pieces and have a clear plan that they implement very consistently. Therefore, I am convinced that they will remain at the top until the end because they have good squad depth and a lot of quality. It will require a top performance from us, but in the last three matches we have shown that we can compete with good teams."

Florian Kohfeldt on facing Dresden

"Dynamo are a very uncomfortable opponent who have somewhat reinvented themselves since the winter break. We expect only two or three players from the starting XI that played against us earlier in the season. They have definitely added quality to their squad. Dresden, under the floodlights, is for me one of the top five games in Germany. Accordingly, we are very much looking forward to this emotional match."

Bitter memories for Dresden

In addition to scoring in the reverse fixture earlier this season, Isac Lidberg also scored the decisive goal in the last away match in Dresden. In a DFB Cup second-round tie back in October 2024 , Dynamo - then in the 3. Liga - managed to force extra-time with a goal in the 11th minute of stoppage time to make it 2-2, before Lidberg then fired the Lilies to a 3-2 victory and into the next round.

A long time ago

Dynamo's only victory in 11 competitive matches against the Lilies came back in September 2018 in a 4-1 home win in Bundesliga 2, with Moussa Koné scoring a brace.
