Full-time: Hannover 0-0 Bochum

Hannover are held, despite being well on top throughout - with the superb Timo Horn proving too great an obstacle in the Bochum goal. The visitors can be pleased to have come away with a point.

Wittek is unable to play on due to cramp, and 18-year-old Koscierski comes on for him.

Hannover look to pace

Kokolo, the fastest player in Bundesliga 2, is tasked with bringing fresh impetus to the hosts as we head into the final few minutes.
78'

Pannewig has a chance to pounce

Bochum win the ball high up the pitch. Pannewig plays a one-two with Hofmann in the penalty area and then hits the post. That was so close!

The Japanese player has been a livewire tonight - and is unfortunate not to have got on the scoresheet.

Hannover still hunting an opener

After a strong attack, the ball lands to Matsuda in six-yard box. His touch is too imprecise though and Wittek is able to clear.

Onyeka can't get there

Alfa-Ruprecht crosses from the right to the near post. Bero nods it on into the six-yard box but Onyeka can't get his head to it. He is caught by Noll in the process, but that's not enough for a penalty.

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
The hosts have dominated the match without managing to find a way past Horn yet. Will Hannover rue the penalty miss?

The stage is set

Hannover can make ground in promotion race

With Elversberg and Darmstadt playing tomorrow, Hannover can move ahead of them and climb to third place temporarily with a win.

Sissoko starts

In another change for Bochum, Sissoko moves into the starting XI. The Frenchman had been out for three months, and his playing time has been carefully managed of late. In the last away match in Fürth, he also started and scored twice.
camera-photo

More on that Bochum team

Striker Philipp Hofmann scored the winner against Bielefeld last time out, but still has to settle for a place on the bench today. Captain Bero moves into the starting XI in his place, with Onyeka (pictured) likely to play as the central striker.
camera-photo

More on that Hannover team

Christian Titz has to do without three players who were in the starting XI in the 2-2 draw in Münster. Wingers Bundu and Chakroun as well as defender Nawrocki are all out. Neubauer, Yokota and Okon come into the team in their place.

Christian Titz on facing Bochum

"They have many facets to their game. When they sit deep, they are a team who can counter-attack quickly. Through their playmaking ability in midfield, they bring quality on the ball. We will try to invest everything to achieve a positive result for everyone here."
camera-photo

Uwe Rösler on facing Hannover

"Hannover have an exciting philosophy. They press strongly, so we won't have much time on the ball. We need to be very good out of possession, then we'll get our chances."

Titz's bad memory

Hannover's Christian Titz has only faced Bochum once before - a 0-0 draw at the Volkspark in October 2018 in what was his final game as Hamburg coach.

A long time ago...

Bochum have played against no other team in Bundesliga 2 so often without ever winning. They last celebrated an away victory in Hannover some 16 years ago in the Bundesliga, on 19 December 2009, when the Ruhr club turned around a 2-0 half-time deficit to win 3-2.

Will there be an away win for the first time?

In the 14 Bundesliga 2 encounters between the two clubs, the away team has never won.
camera-photo

Last encounters

Hannover and Bochum are meeting for the first time since the 2020/21 season. Back then, there was a win apiece for the home team in Bundesliga 2. Bochum triumphed 4-3 with a goal from Robert Tesche in stoppage time, while Marvin Ducksch sealed a 2-0 win for Hannover from the penalty spot.
