Following Spain's early exit from UEFA EURO 2016, new Borussia Dortmund defender Marc Bartra has arrived in Germany and is eager to get started at the "magnificent club".

The 25-year-old penned a four-year deal with Thomas Tuchel's side at the beginning of June and was brought in from FC Barcelona to strengthen the defence in the wake of Mats Hummels' departure for FC Bayern München.

Marc Bartra (l.) was part of Spain's EURO 2016 squad alongside FC Bayern's Thiago (r.).

Speaking to Dortmund's in-house television channel BVB-Total, Bartra said: "I feel very excited. From the first day I knew Dortmund wanted to sign me I felt very honoured. Now I want to get started and have my first game in a Dortmund shirt with this new team. It's a very exciting challenge for me and one which motivates me a lot. I hope to be able to repay the trust the club has placed in me."

He also commented on Dortmund's famed home, the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK: "I've seen the stadium. I went to see it a few weeks ago and I liked it a lot. It's a very nice stadium. I'm looking forward to seeing it filled with fans because I've heard and have seen on television and in videos that it's amazing.

"I haven't been able to see much of the city yet but I'm hoping to see more of it soon," Bartra continued. "I'm looking forward to seeing the stadium when it's full in the first official match against Bayern. I really want to be there and help this magnificent club."

Dortmund will host Bayern in the Supercup 2016 on 14 August before playing 1. FSV Mainz 05 at home on Matchday 1 of the 2016/17 season two weeks later.
