Full-time: Freiburg 2-1 Bochum

Freiburg responded to suffering successive defeats in all competitions prior to the international break with a come-from-behind victory against winless Bochum. Gonçalo Paciência's eye-catching opener was cancelled out by Ritsu Dōan's headed leveller. Almost two for Bochum!

Paciência nearly has a second not long after his opener. It looks like all the 29-year-old has to do is prod home from close range but Matthias Ginter is there to save the hosts at the last. Incredible.

Paciência peach!

What a strike this is! The ball loops out towards Paciência on the left hand side and the Portuguese wellies a first-time, left-footed volley into the corner. Super strike and Bochum lead!

Streich's view on Bochum

"Bochum defended very well [against Leipzig]. They adjusted to Leipzig's style of play. At times there were seven men behind the ball. They had a good tactical set-up. They didn't give Leipzig much of a sniff. I imagine that they’ll look to play similarly against us and then hit us on the counter."

Letsch's view on Freiburg

"Freiburg have a different approach to Leipzig. They've actually been playing two different systems lately. We have to be prepared for that. With [Ritsu] Doan and [Vincenzo] Grifo, they have two very dangerous players in the half spaces. We also have to be careful from set-pieces. Christian Streich has put together a solid team. It's hard to create goal-scoring chances against them."

Joint message for peace

The DFL has recommended a minute's silence in the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 to remember all innocent victims and their relatives after the devastating events in the Middle East. With this joint effort, the DFL and DFB would like to send a common message from German football for peace. Football is a sport that brings people together, which is why we all stand up for peaceful coexistence, respect and tolerance. A fortnight ago, the terrorist attack by Hamas on the people of Israel and the State of Israel began. The DFL is shocked by this terrible attack and the events in the region.

Grifo vs Reimann: the sequel

Vincenzo Grifo is a specialist from 12 yards, failing to score just two of his 23 Bundesliga penalties. However, the most recent of those misses came against Bochum on Matchday 4 of the 2022/23 campaign (Grifo did score the winner in a 1-0 victory). Manuel Riemann kept out the effort, which is perhaps not too much of a surprise considering he has been beaten by just 12 of the 23 spot-kicks he has faced amongst the German elite.
