However, they missed big chances to get ahead and soon paid the price, as Burke staked his claim for a place in Steve Clarke's World Cup squad with a late dagger. Juranovic rounded out the three points in style after fine play from Skarke. Kemlein races away on the counter and does well to pick out the onrushing Ilić ahead of him. For all of Mainz's second half pressure, the visitors still carry a big threat going forward.

Both sides shake things up Juranovic comes on for Union, replacing captain Trimmel. Meanwhile, Sieb and Wieper have entered the fray for the hosts, who are still looking the more likely to score.

Lee walking a tightrope A minute after his tactical foul, the Mainz man arrives late when challenging Jeong. The Union players protest, claiming that he should be shown a second yellow - but Lee escapes a sending-off on this occasion.

Lee picks up a booking The Mainz sub receives a yellow card after a tactical foul.

15 minutes remaining Mainz are well on top as we head into the closing moments. They are the team pushing forward, looking for a winner, while Union appear content to take the point.

Too high from Sano The Mainz midfielder has a free header from 10 yards out, but he can't quite direct it on target.

First Mainz changes Fischer brings on Lee and Veratschnig for Caci and Nebel. The latter has had a good game today, notably grabbing an assist for Becker's equaliser.

Off target from Becker The Mainz attacker has another big opportunity after being picked out by Mwene's cross in acres of space inside the Union box. However, Becker gets his header badly wrong, and it flashes well wide of Klaus' left post.

Triple Union change Eta brings on Köhn, Schäfer and Jeong for the final 30 minutes. Ilić scored the opener after a nice short corner routine, with the forward also having another big chance early on from a Trimmel corner. Sano has been the danger man for Mainz, but aside from his late 1v1 chance, the home side have created very little of note. It's set up nicely heading into the second half.

Union threaten again Moments later, Burcu gets into a similar position as Sano at the opposite end of the pitch. He tries to squeeze the ball inside the near post from a tight angle, but Zentner is equal to it. All of a sudden, the game has burst into life!

Sano denied! The Japanese international is the man making things happen again. He powerfully bursts into the Union box, but Klaus rushes out well to close the angle and block the shot. That was Mainz's best chance of the half.

Good chance for Potulski! Sano drives forward brilliantly down the right channel and flashes a cross into the Union box. He finds Potulski, of all players, whose resulting shot is wild and well off target.

Burcu treated on the pitch The Union forward looks to be in some discomfort. For the time being, he is going to keep on playing. The half-time break is now just a few minutes away.

Amiri over the free kick... The Mainz playmaker takes a free kick from the left side, aiming directly at the goal. Klaus meets it with both fists and punches the ball clear of danger.

Nine minutes added on After the substantial protest delay, there will be a sizable amount of stoppage time.

Union in control Mainz have struggled to create anything of note so far. Heidenheim go close once again.

THAT HAS TO GO IN! Another fantastic counter from Heidenheim and this time Ibrahimović's cutback is absolutely spot on for the goal scorer Schöppner whose shot blasts just over Schwäbe's post. Fortuna now have a one-point lead over the relegation play-off spot and can secure their top-flight survival next week in the direct clash with Fürth. The Saarlanders, on the other hand, remain in second place thanks to their still superior goal difference, but have Hannover and Paderborn breathing down their neck, both level on points. For them too, next week's match against Münster is a high-stakes finale in which they can seal direct promotion.

Next injury break Two Fortuna players are down on the pitch and need treatment. Egouli and the hero of the game, Itten.

Free-kick for Fortuna For the first time in a while, Fortuna manage to relieve some pressure. However, the set piece floats straight to the opposition, who immediately look to push forward again.

Could they really do it? Seven minutes of injury time has been indicated. Can the visitors still make something happen?

Another own goal! And the consolation goal comes for Elversberg after all. The cross from the corner flies to the near post, where the Obderdorf sticks out his right foot and inadvertently tucks it into the near corner.

Pherai onto the crossbar Pherai unleashes a thunderbolt from outside the box, but aims a little too high, as Kastenmeier watches it sail over safely.

What else is going to happen here? Time is gradually running out for the visitors to stage a comeback. They have had control of the game for a good 20 minutes now, but the hosts have no need to push on any further either. Everything points to a comfortable 3-0 victory for them.

Running down the clock Now Daland comes on for Appelkamp as they look to close up shop for the final minutes.

Elversberg want a penalty There is a brief uproar in the away end as Conté goes down in the penalty area. But the situation quickly becomes clear: he had caught his foot in the turf. There was a slight contact beforehand, but it was nowhere near enough to warrant a penalty.

Still all to play for! As it stands, Elversberg need a home win against bottom side Münster on the final matchday to secure promotion, provided Hannover do not win against Nuremberg by a margin of at least six goals.

Another treatment interruption Kastenmeier had problems with his hip after the challenge, but the ball is rolling again now.

That's better! Now Elversberg play it sharply and immediately force an error from the hosts, Zimmerschied's low cross is inadvertently deflected towards goal by Lunddal, but Kastenmeier is fully alert and prevents the second own goal of the match.

Brief injury stoppage Alexandropoulos picked up a knock and had to receive treatment for a brief moment. No cause for concern though, as the Fortuna man gets back up quickly enough.

Simply not enough from the visitors Pherai is still the most prominent player amongst the visitors. He now plays the ball forward with the outside of his boot to the substitute Conté, who cannot reach it though. Time is slowly running out for Elversberg.

Adam enters the action Last week, the youngster scored to make it 5-1 against Paderborn, but can the 20-year-old make an impact off the bench once again today?

Wagner not giving up just yet Elversberg boss Wagner is trying to give his team a fighting chance here with a triple change. Petkov being substituted due to injury will be a huge concern for the promotion-chasers as they head into the final matchday.

Getting better and better The hosts are putting in an all-round strong performance here, recovering the ball an impressive seven seconds faster than they did in the first period.

Unnecessary from Itten The brace scorer steps on Pektov's ankle and it looks to be a painful one. Itten subsequently picks up his fifth yellow of the season, which means he will miss out on the final matchday at Fürth!

What does the table say now? Thanks to their commanding lead, Fortuna are now up to 14th in the standings, with Braunschweig level on points but behind them with a slightly inferior goal difference. For Elversberg, not too much changes just yet, though they ought not to concede any more, otherwise they risk throwing away their important goal difference. For now, they remain second, five goals clear.

Perfect timing! Fortuna have never won by more than two goals this season – achieving their biggest win of the season in this crucial match would be perfect timing heading into the final matchday!

Where are the visitors? Once again, Elversberg have won themselves a corner. Zimmerschied delivers it inward, but Iyoha clears it at the near post with a header. The visitors stay on the ball and Günther whips it in again, but Rohr then heads it over the crossbar.

Double change for Fortuna Lunddal and Suso enter the action as coach Ende looks to bring fresh legs to keep the momentum going.

Brace for Itten! Incredible scenes at the Merkur-Spiel Arena. Breithaupt plays the ball from the centre circle out to the right flank. There, Itten is quicker than Le Joncour and lifts the ball into the net at a tight angle with his first touch against an onrushing Kristof who was always going to struggle to get there. Fortuna fans are in dreamland at the moment.

⚽ 51' Cedric Itten (3-0)

Itten! The Swiss international is hungry for a brace. After winning the ball in midfield, Düsseldorf play it quick as usual, but Itten then slides the ball wide to the right inside the penalty area.

Corner for Elversberg Pherai wins a corner. Elversberg take it quickly – back to Pherai, who aims for the near post, but is only able to find the side netting.

Home is where the heart is Itten has scored 10 of his 14 league goals at home – the Swiss striker found the net in each of the last five home matches.

We're back underway! Both managers have opted against making substitutions and the ball is rolling once again.

That being said: Elversberg should not be written off just yet. In their last away match in Darmstadt (3-3), The visitors managed to get on the scoresheet after being 0-2 down – though the Wagner side levelled it before the break on that occasion.

Tall order for Elversberg Elversberg have faced a 2-0 deficit only once before, this season, on matchday 10 away at Bielefeld – where they went on to lose by the same scoreline.

Half-time: Düsseldorf 2-0 Elversberg Just before the referee's whistle, Petkov attempts to manufacture a shot for himself but after beating multiple Fortuna defenders, he can only fire wide of Kastenmeier's net. Düsseldorf, meanwhile, have put in a remarkable performance in the first 45 and go into the break with a deserved 2-0 lead. Elversberg have yet to find their footing in the match and will need to shake themselves up in the second half if they are to take anything from Düsseldorf, which would be so crucial in the race for promotion to the Bundesliga.

Itten strikes again With 14 goals and three assists, the forward has been directly involved in 17 of Düsseldorf's 32 goals this season.

ITTEN MAKES IT 2-0! The Fortuna front man initiates the move himself, not really being pressed on the left. The ball then reaches Appelkamp, who beautifully plays the ball with his left foot into the centre, where Itten is left unmarked and plants a header into the right side of the net to double the hosts' advantage.

⚽ 44' Cedric Itten (2-0)

Kastenmeier on high alert Mokwa plays a strong pass through to Pherai. He rushes towards the ball, as does Kastenmeier. The two collide slightly and both need a moment to shake it off. Play has resumed, however.

Off target Itten pulls off a few step-overs in a one-on-one against Le Joncour. His subsequent shot towards the far left corner goes wide, however.

What on earth was that? Ljubicic wins the ball back in midfield and picks up the pace. With Kristof standing well off his line, the Fortuna man has a go from distance, but the ball trickles wide to the left. There will surely need to be at least a word or two about finishing at half-time.

Elversberg at it again Pherai wants to play the ball infield with his right foot, but the attempt is blocked for a corner. Has the conceded goal been a wake-up call for the Saarlanders?

Almost 1-1! The subsequent free kick on the left touchline is played across. Gyamerah then crosses from the left into the penalty area, where Mokwa rises and tests Kastenmeier. Poręba attempts to get to the rebound, but the angle is far too tight.

Moving up As it stands on the live table, Fortuna are up to 15th in the standings, and with a win would have one point more than Bielefeld, who now sit in the relegation play-off spot.

First booking Zimmermann steps on Zimmerschied's foot. Clear-cut decision for the referee.

Good omens Of the 13 matches that they've led this season, Fortuna have gone on to win 10. Can they make it 11 here?

Unlucky fellow That was Le Joncour's third own goal of the season, after finding the back of the wrong net against Bielefeld and Hannover on matchday 10 and 11 respecitvely.

<img src="https://assets.bundesliga.com/contender/2026/4/GettyImages-2275433357.jpg?crop=8px,0px,2993px,1996px" alt="The hosts have the lead! Now Mokwa plays a speculative ball from the right to the left flank, but Günther cannot reach it.

Sight at goal! Another good through ball out to the right wing, this time from Ljubicic and from there, the next cross comes in. It is initially cleared by an Elversberg player straight to Iyoha. He pulls the trigger, but misses the goal.

Fizzles Out Appelkamp switches brilliantly to the right flank where Zimmermann has plenty of space, but he gets caught up on the first duel with Günther and possession fizzles out.

Itten wanted Lenz delivers a half-field cross into the box, where Itten rises high, but puts the ball well wide to the right. A thumbs up from the Fortuna front man, that's the kind of service he wants more of.

Dangerous! Straight from the counter, Petkov has plenty of space on the right flank. Fortuna keeper Kastenmeier anticipating a cross, is standing quite far to the left in his goal. So Petkov tries his luck with a cheeky attempt at the near post, but Kastenmeier is there!

First signs Now the hosts are showing signs of life, advancing down the right flank. However, the cross into the middle finds no taker.

Unfortunate slip Kristof plays a long ball to the right flank. Zimmerschied is the intended recipient, however, he slips and the ball flies unchecked into touch.

Visitors on the move The opening minutes have seen Elversberg dominate with the ball, repeatedly trying to play forward with pace and intent. Fortuna are holding firm and have been doing well to keep spaces tight so far.

Technical error Zimmerschied takes his time at a throw-in, and struggles to find a passing option. He then throws the ball long to Mokwa, who cannot bring it under control to receive, which results in a turnover in favour of Fortuna.

We're off! The ball is rolling, the away side get us underway.

A milestone for Kristof The goalkeeper is set to play his 100th match in Bundesliga 2 – all of them for Elversberg, further solidifying his status as the club's all-time appearance maker in the second division.

Nearly there Mathematically speaking, Elversberg cannot secure promotion today, but a win would put them in a very strong position to do so. They would then have a three-point advantage and a superior goal difference to Hannover (+9) and Paderborn (+13) respectively.

Home rut against Elversberg Fortuna have never won at home against Elversberg. Last season they suffered a 0-2 defeat, in addition to a 1-1 draw in 2023/24 and a 1-3 loss in the Regionalliga in March 2000. A win today would be significant at both ends of the table.

Same formula for visitors Elversberg also start with the same starting eleven as in their last match where they thrashed Paderborn 5-1.

Unchanged hosts Düsseldorf line up with the same starting eleven as in the 0-1 defeat at Schalke. In the first half, dangerous moments are few and far between, with not many chances created. The few clear opportunities, however, fall to the side at the bottom of the table, with Futkeu and Klaus each missing chances to take the lead. Hertha were then reduced to ten men from the 32nd minute onwards, after Brekalo pulled off a last-ditch foul on Klaus just outside the box. In the second half, Fürth had chance after chance, but the Berliners soon took the lead through Eichhorn. Cuisance extended the lead to 2-0 in the closing stages, with Futkeu's consolation goal coming too late. As a result, Fürth must accept a painful and unnecessary defeat and now find themselves completely with their backs against the wall.

No danger Ltaief and Green work their way down the left flank to the edge of the box, but the latter gets held up and loses the ball. That will probably have been that.

Another Yellow Card Ernst takes a very long time over a free kick and is consequently booked.

Ernst to the rescue! Almost the 2-2! Hrgota dances past Karbownik on the right side of the penalty area in a very tight space and then shoots. He aims for the bottom right corner, Ernst dives lightning-fast and makes a superb save, pushing the ball out for a corner. The resulting set piece comes to nothing.

Five Minutes of Injury Time Fürth now have 300 seconds left to score the so important equaliser here.

Another double substitution for Hertha Cuisance and Seguin make way for Demme and Dudziak.

Fürth pull one back! The Cloverleaf are back in it! Ltaief delivers a silky smooth cross from the left half-space into the centre, and Futkeu is there to nod home from 5 metres. Game back on!

⚽ 88' Noel Futkeu (2-1)

Scoring drought ended Cuisance had gone 19 matches in Bundesliga 2 without scoring, netting today for the first time in over half a year (last on matchday 11 against Dresden).

Stunning goal from Cuisance! Hertha put the lid on it! Karbownik has the ball on the left flank, drives towards the penalty area and then plays it centrally to Cuisance, who is lurking on the edge of the box. The midfielder takes the pass first time and fires the ball into the top-left corner, just under the crossbar.

⚽ 84' Michaël Cuisance (2-0)

No Way Through Fürth keep pressing forward, but for quite some time now the visitors have not really been creating any genuine danger. SpVgg have just over five minutes of regular time remaining to find the equaliser.

Leistner clapped off After the season, Leistner's chapter at Hertha comes to an end, which is why he is being loudly celebrated by the home fans as he departs the pitch.

Double substitution for Hertha Schuler and Leistner replace Reese and Eitschberger.

Another substitution for the Franconians Itter comes on for Dehm.

Another card Reese goes down on the left side of the penalty area in a challenge against Dehm and appeals for a penalty. Bacher, however, does not award it, and the Hertha captain is ultimately booked for dissent.

Eichhorn celebrates his opener

A quarter of an hour to go What can Fürth still achieve here? The visitors have to up the ante, as they need at least a point from this match. This is going to be a very interesting finale!

Winkler receives a yellow card The Hertha player kicks the ball away after an offensive foul by Reese and also protests too loudly. As a result, he receives a booking that means he will miss next week's final match of the season against Arminia Bielefeld.

Substitutions on both sides For Hertha, Klemens comes on for Eichhorn, while for Fürth, Keller and Will make way for Green and Srbeny.

Wasteful in front of goal Fürth should really be in a commanding lead here, instead the Franconians are chasing the game. The visitors have to take at least a point today, otherwise staying up on the final matchday will be extremely difficult.

Higl with a header The substitute finds himself unmarked centrally in the box, heading from seven metres, but his attempt goes narrowly wide of the right post by centimetres.

Hrgota ice-cold The veteran stays completely composed under pressure and can free himself from pressing situations time and again. So far, the attacking player has been pressed 14 times and boasts a success rate of 84 per cent. The Fürth captain is almost impossible to dispossess.

Too high from Klaus Futkeu lays the ball off centrally in the box for Klaus. The forward doesn't hesitate and shoots immediately from a few yards out in a central position. However, he just misses the target and the ball flies two metres over the middle of the crossbar.

Double substitution for the visitors Dietz and Ziereis make way for Ltaief and Higl.

Cuisance can't get it on target The midfielder unleashes a curling shot from the right, around 20 yards out, aiming to place the ball into the far left corner. It comes close, but in the end the ball flies half a metre wide of the goal.

A special goal for Eichhorn The 16-year-old scores his Bundesliga 2 goal at the end of a breakout league campaign for Hertha.

⚽ 55' Kennet Eichhorn (1-0)

All-out attack Dehm throws caution to the wind on a corner from the left and lurks half-right in the space behind the penalty area edge. He volleys the ball, but the attempt goes well wide and high to the left of the goal.

Fürth on the front foot Hrgota plays in Klaus on the left side of the box, who has plenty of space and then looks to pick out the lurking Futkeu in the five-metre area with a cross. The striker is poised to shoot, but once again Eitschberger intervenes at the last second and prevents the ball from hitting the back of the net.

Klaus has a go.. Keller covers ground in midfield, then cuts inside before the penalty area and plays it across to Klaus. The forward takes aim from the edge of the box and targets the right corner, the ball whistles past the post by mere millimetres. That is the third time this afternoon that Klaus has come close to scoring the opener for Kleeblatt!

Wide from Reese Reese lines up a shot from a half-right position, around 20 yards, aiming for the right corner. The shot goes well wide of the goal and poses no danger whatsoever.

Back underway! The referee blows the whistle to commence the second half. Neither manager has elected to make any changes at the break.

Half-time: Hertha 0-0 Fürth After 45 minutes played, there is nothing to separate these sides. It has been an evenly matched game with few chances created. The few clear opportunities, however, have fallen to the Clover Leaves, with Futkeu and Klaus each missing the chance to take the lead. Hertha have been playing with ten men since the 32nd minute, after Brekalo brought down Klaus with a cynical foul just outside the box, resulting in a red card. Nevertheless, everything is still absolutely up for grabs in the second half.

Futkeu too hesitant Dehm plays a low ball from the right into the box, finding an unmarked Futkeu at the far post with all the time in the world. The forward brings the ball under control, hesitates slightly and then looks to slot it home from six yards out. At the last second, Eitschberger nips in and dispossesses the striker.

Stoppage time A minimum of three additional minutes have been indicated.

Wide right Klaus delivers a free-kick from the left into the box. Elvedi and Ziereis make runs into the centre and narrowly miss out on getting on the end of the cross. The ball ultimately sails wide to the right of the goal.

Keller into touch The Fürth player picks up the pace on the left flank, but plays the ball a bit too far ahead of himself and the ball goes out of touch. Play continues with a throw-in for the hosts.

Five minutes to go The first half is slowly drawing to a close. Will either of the two sides manage to score the opening goal before the half-time whistle?

Dehm booked Dehm clatters into Karbownik from behind just outside the box and is shown a yellow card.

Tight angle On the other side, Cuisance lines up a shot from the right side of the penalty area. Prüfrock is there at the near post and makes a good save, though.

Wide of the mark Klaus gets free on the edge of the penalty area and goes for goal, aiming for the bottom left corner, but the ball whistles just narrowly past the post.

No goal Reese crosses from the right into the box and finds Cuisance at the far post. The midfielder brings the ball down well, holds off three Fürth players and finishes from 10 yards perfectly into the bottom right corner. However, the flag goes up immediately afterwards, as Cuisance was clearly offside when Reese delivered the cross.

Too imprecise Klaus crosses from the right into the box, but can only find the head of Eitschberger at the far post.

Alert defending From a right-sided free-kick, Kolbe stays switched on to the danger and clears the ball in the nick of time ahead of the lurking Ziereis.

Fürth in possession The visitors are keeping the ball moving well through their own ranks, with Hertha currently unable to get out of their own half and doing a lot of chasing.

Hesitant start So far it has been an evenly-matched affair, with both teams largely cancelling each other out. The focus is clearly on the defensive side of the game, however the visitors have already had a real gilt-edged chance through Futkeu.

No danger Brekalo whips a corner in from the left, but Fürth's players in the box are alert and clear the danger with ease.

Eitschberger stays alert The right-back clears the ball into touch following a foot race against Klaus.

Corner from the right Hrgota whips the ball in with cut from the right, but the hosts are first to the ball to clear the danger from their own box.

Futkeu narrowly misses A big chance for the visitors! Keller makes a good run down the left, beating Eitschberger, before finding Futkeu in the centre. The striker brings the ball under control and immediately shoots on the turn from 10 yards out. He aims for the top right corner, but the ball whistles just narrowly past the post.

Safe hands Reese crosses from the left with the outside of his right boot, but the delivery makes for an easy catch for Prüfrock.

Reese too strong The captain holds his own against Hrgota on the left flank, putting his body in robustly. Hrgota goes to ground, but it's a fair challenge from the Hertha man.

Who was that to? On the other side, Will plays a pass up the right flank, but there is not a single teammate anywhere near that area. As a result, the attack comes to nothing and the ball is back in Hertha's possession.

Too much on it Brekalo is looked for up front, but the pass for him to chase is too long and goes behind for a goal kick to Fürth.

Brilliant atmosphere The fans are creating a magnificent atmosphere right from the kick-off and are making quite a racket.

And we're off! The ball is rolling here in the capital.

Tension until the final day Regardless of how today's matches turn out, Fürth will have their final showdown against Düsseldorf on the final day of the season and no matter what, the Clover Leaves cannot be relegated today.

More on that Fürth side In comparison, coach Heiko Vogel makes just the one change to his XI which started the 1-1 draw against Nuremberg last week. Relegation is confirmed for Preußen Münster, even though they put in a decent performance today and managed to earn a point against Darmstadt whilst being a man down. Nevertheless, on balance, Darmstadt were the better side and should have won with the man advantage. Regardless, it ends in a 1-1 draw.

Darmstadt persevering In this closing stage, Darmstadt are intensifying their attacking efforts once more, but have so far been unlucky in front of goal.

Acrobatic but unsuccessful Substitute Białek attempts to meet a cross from the right flank with an overhead kick, but sends the ball well over the bar.

Injury time underway Four minutes have been added on. These are likely the last second division minutes in Münster for at least a year...

Richter! Richter takes the resulting free-kick towards the right corner, but Schenk is able to distinguish himself once again and claws the ball to safety.

Paetow booked Paetow handles the ball after going down under a challenge from Corredor and is shown a yellow card.

Offensive substitution Defender Maglica is replaced by striker Białek for the final stages of the match.

Rondić's shot blocked There was briefly a shooting chance in the penalty area for Preußen, but the first touch from Rondić was not ideal, allowing Maglica to throw himself in front of it and make the block.

Powerful effort The defender lets fly from the edge of the box but sends the ball whistling over the bar.

Goalscorer calls it a day Yamada is replaced up front by Vilhelmsson.

Maglica! After a corner kick, the ball falls fortunately to the feet of the centre-back, but he skies his shot from close range.

Another chance wasted With a bit of luck, Bouchama drives forward and finds himself through on goal, but at the last moment he is denied a shot by a sliding tackle from Maglica!

Bolay booked The Münster brings Corredor down from behind at the halfway line and is rightly shown a yellow card.

Fine cross From the right flank, Furukawa whips the ball sharply in front of goal, but Schenk dives forward and punches the ball clear.

More in that Richter drives the ball forward on the counter and lays it off to Corredor out on the right, but his cross is cleared by Münster. The Lilies had the numerical advantage there, but in the end they didn't manage to get a shot off.

Dominant display The numerical advantage is now clearly showing in this second half. Darmstadt have a lot of possession and are trying to wear down their opponents.

Speculative Akiyama drives forward and simply lets fly a good 25 yards from goal, but misses the target by about a yard to the left.

Overhit Preußen break but Bouchama plays an unreachable through ball out to the left, and just like that the chance comes to nothing.

We're back underway! The ball is rolling again here in Münster. There's one change for the hosts at the break: Schulz has stayed in the dressing room. In his place comes Meyerhöfer.

Half-time: Münster 1-1 Darmstadt A first half complete with goals on both sides, a red card and a penalty is called to a close. Preußen are playing with confidence and refuse to accept what looks like an almost certain relegation, but Darmstadt now hold the cards with the extra man and are playing fairly calmly.

So close! Richter receives a through ball on the left side of the penalty area and attempts a chip shot from a tight angle, but the ball drifts wide of the right post and out of play.

Stoppage time A minimum of five additional minutes have been indicated.

Penalty for Darmstadt! After a long ball into the box, Makridis misses it, leaving Corredor through on goal. The Darmstadt man rounds Schenk and then gets the contact from the keeper that he gratefully accepts and goes down.

Not giving up Even though the signs are now very much against them, the home side are actively pushing forward in these minutes and are not sitting back despite being a man down.

Mountain to climb Things started ideally with the early lead for the hosts, but now the 10 men of Preußen will have to believe in a miracle to keep their chances of survival alive.

Hendrix! Hendrix hits a rebound from the edge of the penalty area, but Schuhen is once again there to make the save.

Over the bar Bolay takes a free-kick from the right half-space. He aims for the far corner, but the ball flies around a yard over the goal.

Double chance for Yamada Schuhen is forced to make two sensational saves to deny the Japanese! First, the Preußen man tries his luck with a header, before taking a low shot from close range moments after.

Almost a second! After a one-two with Lidberg, Richter breaks through on the right side of the penalty area, but then fires the ball a good two yard over the bar! There was more in that...

Who else but Lidberg!? On the left side of the penalty area, Darmstadt's Swedish forward feints twice, before cutting inside and firing the ball crispy into the bottom corner at the near post. After a long ball into the box he is clean through and slots the ball low through Schuhen's legs! It is particularly bitter for Darmstadt, as centre-back Pfeiffer had to be treated off the pitch when the goal was scored.

⚽ 8' Shin Yamada (1-0)

Darmstadt again! It's a third attempt in the opening phase for the Lilies. This time, Petretta gets on the end of a long ball and finds himself one-on-one with Schenk, but the goalkeeper comes out in time and makes the save.

Another opportunity Maglica rises high in the six-yard box to meet a corner delivered in from the right, but the Darmstadt man heads the ball just over.

First shot Following a run by Richter, Furukawa is found on the edge of the penalty area and has a go, but sees his attempt blocked.

Kick-off! It's the visitors from Darmstadt who get us underway here in Münster.

Lidberg's battle for the Golden Boot Darmstadt may no longer be in the promotion race, but they can support their striker Lidberg in finishing the season as top scorer. Schalke came out of the dressing room well in the second half and engaged the hosts in an end-to-end battle in the first 15 minutes of the second half, during which both teams squandered clear-cut chances. Nuremberg settled the game down after the hour mark and put the lid on it with Zoma's 3-0 a quarter of an hour before the final whistle. Schalke continued to have good chances but simply could not find the net. Nuremberg jump to eighth place with the win, while Schalke of course remain the runaway leaders at the top of the table.

More in that one too Ayhan gets a very free header from six yards out, but puts the ball two yards wide of the left post.

Fizzling out Both sides are going through the motions in the closing stages here. Schalke are keeping possession, whilst Nuremberg have dropped back a little.

Well defended Karaman gets on the ball on the left side of the penalty area, but his subsequent shot is blocked.

Not the fourth! Nzingoula finds himself one-on-one with Müller, after Zoma unselfishly plays it across. However, from 12 yards, the substitute is denied by the Schalke goalkeeper.

Off the post again! The ball just will not go in from Schalke's perspective. Following a corner kick, Sanchez gets a shot off whilst lying on the ground, but his effort from eight yards crashes against the left post.

Alì Zoma gets his goal! 3-0! This time the flag stays down! Eric Porstner gets his fifth second division appearance on his 19th birthday.

Technically demanding Sylla has another good chance. After a cross from the right, he takes the ball first time, but puts it just wide of the near post from 10 yards out.

Another substitution Antwi-Adjei gets a few more minutes on the pitch as he comes on to replace Schallenberg.

Tactical foul Ayhan pulls on Zoma's shirt to prevent a counter-attack and is rightfully shown a yellow card.

A first for the season As things stand, Nuremberg will have a positive goal difference (43-42) for the first time this season if the scores remain the same come the full-time whistle.

Off target Sylla is sent through by El Faouzi, but his shot from 18 yards out whistles past the near post.

Woodwork! After a corner kick, Fernandez gets his head to the ball at the near post, but Müller claws the ball off the line with the help of the post for another corner.

Strong start to the second half Schalke have come out of the tunnel with more drive, but Nuremberg are continuing to hold their ground well and are maintaining their 2-0 lead.

Nuremberg in front once again The hosts have not been trailing at half-time in any of their last 12 matches (leading seven times, tied in five).

Rarely behind at half-time Schalke find themselves behind at the start of the second half for only the fourth time in 33 league outings this term. On the previous occasions, they suffered defeats away at Bochum and at home against Kiel, in addition to a draw away at Fürth.

Another big chance! Danilo Soares shoots from the left side of the penalty area with too much power and too little precision, firing his shot into the side netting at the near post.

Almost a third! Nuremberg squander the chance to make it 3-0! Zoma plays a low ball to the far post, but Müller misjudges it and Lubach cannot convert from six yards at a tight angle. The post comes to the rescue for the already beaten Müller.

Back underway! Nuremberg get the ball rolling for the second half. Schalke are the only side to have made changes at the break, taking off Vitalie Becker for with Moussa Ndiaye.

Half-time: Nuremberg 2-0 Schalke Miroslav Klose's side head in at the break with a deserved lead against the champions thanks to an early own-goal from Schallenberg and a late strike from Koudossou. In fact, the Bavarian outfit put the ball in the back of the Royal Blues' goal four times in the first half, but two strikes by Mohamed Alì Zoma were chalked off for offside. Schalke have lacked an offensive threat, going closest through Aouchiche immediately after falling behind, but otherwise have been largely passive in attacking areas.

Koudossou doubles Nuremberg's lead! On the third time of asking, Nuremberg extend their lead to 2-0 before the break! Müller had anticipated the cut-back and left the near post exposed.

⚽ 45+2' Henri Koudossou (2-0)

Generous stoppage time Due to the lengthy injury stoppage at the start of the match, there are five minutes of added time.

More in that The ball bounces into the penalty area after a brilliant flick-on from Becker to Justvan, who shoots wide from 18 yards instead of playing in Lubach to his left, who was unmarked...

No penetration Schalke are currently too sluggish on the ball and are struggling to create opportunities going forward.

No further action required The VAR also reviewed the incident concerning a possible upgrade to a red card, but upholds the referee's original decision.

Heavy challenge Becker attempts to tackle the ball away from Zoma, but catches the Nuremberg striker on the ankle in the process. A free-kick in the right half-space is awarded to the home side and a yellow card shown to Becker.

Strong down the flanks Nuremberg keep coming down the wings. It remains all to play for.

Added time There'll be three extra minutes before the break.

Pejčinović fires narrowly wide Daghim does brilliantly to keep the ball in and find Pejčinović in the box. He spins and shoots, but his effort goes just wide of the far post.

How have Wolfsburg not scored? Vavro unleashes a piledriver that Urbig beats away. The rebound is then struck by Eriksen, and Urbig gets his fingertips to the ball to make a great save. From the resulting corner, a scramble ensues in front of goal, and somehow the ball eventually pops up into the grateful arms of Urbig.

Penalty? Yes! Kimmich finds Olise with a stunning ball over the top. He takes it down brilliantly before being brought to the ground. The referee points to the spot, but the flag is up for offside. However, after a review, the spot-kick is given.

Jackson shoots Musiala finds Jackson, who shoots, but Grabara makes the stop.

Wolfsburg can't scramble the ball home Kumbedi pinches the ball off Jackson and sends in a cross that Wimmer tries to head goalwards. The ball is then drilled back in and deflects towards Urbig, who makes a big save. It looks for a moment like Wimmer will have the chance to fire home the rebound, but Goretzka gets in the way to deny the chance.

A painful one Goretzka blocks a free-kick with his head, and that is certainly going to hurt. He shoots, but rather drags his shot wide.

Off the bar! Bayern play another short corner and work the ball superbly to Bischof on the edge of the box. He strikes it first time only to see his effort bounce clear off the woodwork. Goretzka then has a chance from the rebound, but he misses the target with Grabara stranded.

Musiala denied Olise catches Wolfsburg napping with a short corner to Musiala. He bursts into the box, but he doesn't have any support, so in the end, he makes the smart decision and shoots against Kim for a corner.

Big chance Mæhle whips in a dangerous cross from the left that Pejčinović doesn't meet cleanly with his head. However, his effort loops across goal where Souza meets it right in front of Urbig, but the goalkeeper is in the way to make the stop.

A counter chance Pejčinović sets Daghim away against Ito, but he can't get the ball back to his strike partner, and Bayern recover. Wolfsburg will have opportunities on the break.

Almost space Some neat interchange on the edge of the Wolfsburg box almost creates room for Goretzka, but Wolfsburg plug the gap just in time.

We're underway Bayern get the ball moving.

More on those teams Hecking sticks with the same Wolfsburg XI that drew with Freiburg last weekend. Gregoritsch scored a clinical brace to take another step closer to becoming the club's all-time record goalscorer in the Bundesliga, with Fellhauer also getting on the scoresheet. The result moves Baum's side level on points with eighth-placed Frankfurt, while Gladbach remain in 11th.

⚽ 90+2' Giovanni Reyna (3-1)

Stoppage time Four minutes have been added on. Gladbach are still trying to score their first goal of the game, although they continue to be frustrated by Augsburg's stubborn backline. Baum will be delighted with his side's endevours today.

Final Gladbach substitution Sarco replaces Machino for the final few minutes of the game, which has simmered down somewhat.

Reitz denied Machino plays a tidy give and go with Reitz, who gets two chances to try and set up a teammate inside the Augsburg penalty area. However, on both occasions, his attempted passes are cut out.

Leaving the pitch, but entering the record books Gregoritsch is replaced by Ribeiro for the final 10 minutes. He only needs two more goals to become Augsburg's all-time record goalscorer in the Bundesliga.

⚽ 72' Michael Gregoritsch (3-0)

Another goal is ruled out! Fellhauer thought he'd scored for a second time after nodding home from a corner kick. However, it's swiftly disallowed by the referee.

Hack tries his luck The Gladbach sub finds a pocket of space just outside the opposition penalty area and decides to shoot. His effort is too central, and is well held by Dahmen in the Augsburg net.

Double Augsburg switch Massengo and Keitel are on for the home side, as we enter the final 30 minutes of play. The latter is making his first Augsburg appearence since February.

Triple Gladbach change Bolin, Hack and Reyna are all on for Die Fohlen, who are currently enjoying their best spell of the game.

Wolf booked The Augsburg midfielder picks up a yellow card for a rash high tackle.

Ullrich can't get there! Gladbach work the ball well through Reitz and then Stöger. It eventually goes out to Scally on the right side of the Augsburg box, who tries to find Ullrich at the far post. However, it's too far ahead of the German as he can't quite keep the ball in play.

Kade stretches his legs Augsburg aren't done just yet. Kade skips away from Ullich down the right channel and darts inside the Gladbach area. He is eventually foiled by Nicolas, who parries the ball away to relative safety - but for how long?

Nearly an own goal from Fellhauer! The Augsburg man almost scored his second goal of the game - but this time at the wrong end of the pitch. A dangerous Mohya ball across the six-yard box is cut out by Fellhauer, who just about turns it away for a corner.

The ball is rolling again The second half is underway. Gladbach have made one change at the break, bringing on Ullrich for Honorat.

Half-time: Augsburg 2-0 Gladbach They may have had less of the ball so far, but hosts Augsburg are great value for their 2-0 lead. Gregoritsch, Kömür and Kade have combined tremendously so far, especially when racing away on the counter-attack. While qualification for Europe remains a tough ask, the Bavarians are doing all they can to put the teams above them in the Bundesliga table under some serious pressure.

That one will count! Augsburg have scored their second of the game - and this one is certainly going to stand. It's another swooping counter that ends with Kömür playing the ball into the path of Fellhauer, who has acres of free space to run into on the overlap. The wing-back keeps his composure and finds the back of the net to double the home side's lead. What a display this has been so far!

⚽ 42' Robin Fellhauer (2-0)

Pressure from Gladbach The visitors are looking to back on level terms through Machino. The forward works the ball into the penalty area, where Honorat is waiting to shoot. Gouweleeuw blocks well to deny the Frenchman, although play is then pulled back for an offside violation.

Kömür tests the keeper Gregoritsch turns provider this time, playing a delicate through ball for Kömür to run onto. He takes a touch on the left side of the Gladbach box and shoots - but his effort is straight at Nicolas.

Augsburg take the lead! The European dream is ON! A through ball finds Fellhauer in space on the left. His attempted shot at goal is deflected back into the six-yard box, where Gregoritsch reacts first to roll the ball home and hand his side a valuable lead.

⚽ 24' Michael Gregoritsch (1-0)

Stögerrrrrr Just wide! The Gladbach midfielder tries his luck first time from the edge of the Augsburg box. It's a rasping effort, which looks like it's curving towards the bottom left corner of the net, but is narrowly off target.

Matsima heads over Augsburg try a long throw-in from the left. Matsima is there to flick the ball on, but he gets too much on it and heads it over the crossbar.

Reitz to the rescue Augsburg are just starting to threaten again, but Reitz is there on this occasion to break up an attempted counter. The home side are lacking end product so far.

Fullhauer is on As feared, Giannoulis is unable to continue. Fellhauer takes his place for the rest of the game.

Giannoulis goes down The left-back is receiving treatment on the pitch. This doesn't look too good...

Big Matsima clearance! Gladbach work a good chance for the first time this afternoon. A cross comes to Scally at the back post, who hooks the ball back into the six-yard box. Fortunately for Augsburg, Matsima is there to intercept and clear the ball away. Stöger then has a speculative shot from range that flies well wide.

Bright start from hosts Giannoulis has enjoyed some space down the left channel so far. His attempted cross into the Gladbach box is a little too long on this occasion, but the early signs are good from Augsburg.

Early penalty claim Kade goes down inside the Gladbach area after a collision with Diks. However, the referee is quick to wave away the Augsburg protests.

We're underway! Here we go then. Gladbach get the game going in their all-black away strip, while hosts Augsburg are in all white.

Gladbach team news Eugen Polanski, meanwhile, makes two changes to the Gladbach side that defeated Dortmund at home last time out.
