Free kick for Paderborn

Grimaldi is caught in a pincer movement in midfield. He gratefully accepts it. However, the free kick for Paderborn turns into a counter-attack for Braunschweig. But nothing more than a corner comes from this.

Krauße tries from distance...

...but the ball goes well over the crossbar. It was his final action.

Red card!

During a challenge, Hoffmeier rammed his elbow into the stomach of Polter, who was standing behind him. Although Polter was holding on a bit from behind, it was within the usual limits. Haslberger briefly reviewed the scene on the monitor, recognised the violent conduct and showed the red card. The ball wasn't even near them during this incident.

Half-time: Paderborn 0-0 Braunschweig

A combative match with many duels in midfield. Braunschweig had the best chance with Philippe's shot from about ten metres out. Overall, the level of play is enjoyable, but the decisive actions in the penalty area are still missing.

Chance for SC

Curda's cross goes slightly awry and ends up hitting the crossbar of the Braunschweig goal.

First good chance for the visitors!

After a few stepovers, Bell Bell whips in a cross from the half-space into the penalty area. Philippe connects well with the ball but puts it agonisingly wide of the goal.

Four changes for Braunschweig

Eintracht manager Daniel Scherning makes four changes to his starting eleven compared to the 1-1 home draw against Münster: Bell Bell, Krauße, Conteh and Gomez play in place of Di Michele Sanchez, Polter, Szabo (all on the bench) and Tauer (cruciate ligament rupture).

Three changes for Paderborn

SCP coach Lukas Kwasniok makes three changes compared to the DFB-Cup match against Werder Bremen: Brackelmann, Engelns and Ansah start in place of Kinsombi, Baur (both on the bench) and Michel (not in the squad).

Eintracht starting XI

Johansson - Jaeckel, Bičakčić, Ehlers - Kaufmann, Krauße, Köhler, Bell Bell - Philippe - Gómez, Conteh

Paderborn starting XI

Schubert - Scheller, Götze, Brackelmann - Curda, Engelns, Castaneda, Hoffmeier - Bilbija, Ansah, Obermair

Scherning's view on Paderborn

"I think that in matches like this we can focus more on our strengths, which is counter-attacking football. We are capable of hurting any team with this. Sunday will be a completely different challenge compared to the home game against Preußen Münster, because Paderborn play with much more emphasis on possession. We are the underdogs on Sunday, and I believe this role suits us well."

Kwasniok's view on Braunschweig

"We cannot afford to lose possession easily in central positions. That's exactly what Eintracht, the best counter-attacking team in the league, is waiting for."

Another surprise?

The respective away team won both meetings in this fixture last season. Eintracht claimed a surprise 2-1 victory at Paderborn on Matchday 26 (Rayan Philippe scored the winning goal), securing important points in the relegation battle.

Historically no favourite

Although Paderborn have scored six more goals than Eintracht in the 16 second-division encounters to date (20-14), the record between both clubs in Bundesliga 2 is even at five wins each (six draws).
