Full-time: Werder Bremen 1-3 Hoffenheim

The hosts couldn't maintain their bright start to the second 45, allowing Hoffenheim to grab a third goal and three points to go with it. The visitors looked assured throughout and are great value for the win. Werder, however, will be disappointed with their lacklustre, disjointed performance.

Half-time: Werder Bremen 1-2 Hoffenheim

Despite taking the lead against the run of play early on, Bremen failed to get going in the first-half which was characterised by poor passing and a lack of energy. Hoffenheim on the other hand, lead deservedly through two brilliant finishes from Stach and Bischof. The early goal didn't seem to affect them and they were the better side throughout the half.

Goal! Bischof puts Hoffenheim ahead

In almost identical fashion to the first goal, Bischof plays a one-two on the edge of the area before, quite slowly, slotting the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal, wrongfooting the 'keeper once more.

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals> xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals> goals).
Despite that early goal, there's very little between the teams in an attacking sense.

Strength in numbers?

Hoffenheim have fielded 34 different players in this Bundesliga season, by far the most of all teams in the current campaign and a new single-season record for the club.
camera-photo

It's been a long time

Werder have not beaten Hoffenheim at home for almost 11 years. The last time they did dates back to April 2014 (3-1 under Robin Dutt: Bargfrede, Garcia and Petersen got the goals for Bremen).

Away-day blues

Hoffenheim have only won one of their nine Bundesliga away games this season.

Christian Ilzer's thoughts on Bremen

"Bremen generate a lot of energy at home. They've had a lot of good spells, but recently it's been a bit more difficult. But now important players are fit again or no longer suspended. Bremen play very straightforward football and can be dangerous both in the centre and on the wings. We need a lot of activity on our end. We must not lose faith in ourselves, even if we're going through a tough patch."
camera-photo

Ole Werner's thoughts on Hoffenheim

"I think it's important against Hoffenheim, who are a team that defends with a high level of intensity and who always make things happen when they have the space, to play cleanly under pressure and to have threaten opponent's backline. Hoffenheim have a lot of individual quality when it comes to the transition, and they show this time and time again. They’re a team that can play very flexibly, whether playing out from defence or often managing to change tempo via a long ball."
