Full-time: Augsburg 0-0 Leipzig

Xavi forces a routine save from Dahmen with the final meaningful kick of the game. Augsburg are good value for the point after a battling display - they're now unbeaten in six. Leipzig, meanwhile, have taken just one win in that time.

Big chances!

Nedeljkovic heads a cross from deep against the crossbar. Leipzig recycle possession and get another ball into the six-yard box for Openda, who is taken by surprise and heads wide.

On the counter

Xavi leads a three-on-three break, but under-hits his attempted pass and the attack breaks down on the edge of the Augsburg area.

Always rising!

Haidara connects well enough with the ball from 20 yards, but can't keep his shot down. Poulsen and Nedeljkovic have just come on for the visitors. Will either of them carve out a clear-cut chance before the final whistle?
82'

Onyeka!

Tietz drives forward and squares for Onyeka. He takes it on first time from just inside the area, but can only side-foot wide. Koudossou replaced the injured Wolf before that effort.

Top-four race

If Leipzig can't find a winner, Stuttgart will have the chance to reclaim fourth place with three points at home to Wolfsburg on Saturday.
74'

Wide!

And from the ensuing corner, Tietz sends a downward header wide. He was well placed to do more with that. Huge let-off for Leipzig!
73'

Reaction save!

Jakić tries to direct a deep cross back across goal, but instead his header ricochets goalwards off a defender, forcing Gulácsi to bat clear.
73'

Midfield reinforcement

Maier enters the fray for Augsburg. He's a little more defensively minded than Jensen.
70'

Changes

It was no surprise to see Openda on for Baumgartner in attack a moment ago, but now it looks like a change in formation with the introduction of Vermeeren and Seiwald. It would appear Rose is switching to a 4-4-2 for the remainder...
67'

Nearly!

Kampl receives a pass deep in the Augsburg box. He hooks it over into the danger zone, where Šeško is millimetres from making contact with a stooping header.
63'

Frustrations showing

Kampl's booked for a late challenge in midfield on Jakić. that one comes after Matsima went into the book for nudging over Xavi in the middle of the park.
58'

No way through

Raum asks the question with a corner into the near-post, but it's headed clear. Haidara takes a swing at the loose ball, the Leipzig midfielder driving a swerving effort into another white shirt.

Mot much in it

Leipzig are marginally ahead in the shot count but Augsburg continue to threaten on the break.

Wide from Xavi

For what seems like the first time in the game, Xavi finds a bit of space to work in. His shot from the edge of the box leaves Dahmen stranded, but it curls just wide of the post.
47'

Chance for Klostermann!

Raum whips a cross from the left deep towards the back post. Klostermann gets behind his marker and tries to volley the ball at goal but he doesn't make a clean connection and the opportunity goes begging.
46'

Peeeeep!

No changes from either side as Augsburg get the ball rolling once more.

Half-time: Augsburg 0-0 Leipzig

It's all square at the break, which is handily also a fair reflection of the way the game has panned out. Leipzig started strongly and dominated possession but never seriously threatened Dahmen's goal. Augsburg grew into the game as the half wore on and had a couple of decent openings as they ended the first 45 minutes looking the more dangerous of the teams.

Raum has a go

The ball sits up really nicely for the Germany international to hit a first-time drive on the volley. He strikes it well but it's blocked before it reached goal.
40'

Big save from Gulácsi!

Wolf's initial corner is cleared but Augsburg recycle possession well. Claude-Maurice finds himself in space and hits a bouncing effort towards the bottom corner that Gulácsi does really well to keep out at full stretch.
39'

Jensen in behind

More good play from the hosts as Claude-Maurice plays in the winger down the right. He gets to the byline but his cross into the middle is blocked for a corner.
38'

Bossing it

One of the reasons why Augsburg are competing so well right now is that they are not shying away from any tackles, as embodied by Frank Onyeka, who has won more duels than any other player so far.

Promising position

Jakić wins a free-kick deep in Leipzig territory, wide on the right. They send their big players forward but Wolf's delivery is lacking and is cleared almost as soon as it enters the area.

Baumgartner's chance

This effort from the Leipzig midfielder earlier on is about as close as either side have come to an opener so far.

Giannoulis in behind

The wing-back gets to the byline on the left and crosses into the middle. It's cleared for a corner but is another promising sign from the home side.
22'

Chance for Matsima

Wolf curls in a deep cross to the back post, where Matsima beats his marker to the ball and directs a header at goal. It's lacking power and too close to Gulácsi though, and the Leipzig goalkeeper makes a save.

Nothing in it

Raum (l.) and Wolf (r.) tussle for possession early on.

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals> xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals> goals).
Those two efforts from Baumgartner have been the best we've seen so far.

Promising from Augsburg

Jakić gets the better of Xavi down the Augsburg right and he finds Alexis Claude-Maurice, who dances his way past a couple of defenders before lashing a shot into the side netting from an angle.
11'

Geertruida with a rocket

The corner is only half cleared outside the penalty area, where Lutsharel Geertruida is lurking. He smashes a long-range effort at goal but the box is crowded and it's deflected out for a corner.
10'

Baumgartner again

A surge of pace from Baumgartner to burst into the right-hand side of the Augsburg box. He aims a shot towards the far corner with the outside of his boot but it's blocked for a corner.

Keep ball

It's increasingly becoming one-way traffic towards the Augsburg goal, albeit without any clear-cut openings as yet.
7'

Asserting control

Leipzig are starting to show their quality on the ball. Not only have they played over twice as many passes, their pass completion rate is far superior (91% to 73%).

More on that Augsburg line-up

Jess Thorup has also made two changes following last week's 0-0 draw in Mainz. Keven Schlotterbeck is ill, so Dimitrios Giannoulis comes into the side at left wing-back, with Cédric Zesiger slotting into the back three. Kömür has dropped to the bench for this one, with Fredrik Jensen starting in attacking midfield.

Two changes for Leipzig

Marco Rose's hand was forced in defence following Willi Orbán's red card last week, meaning Lukas Klostermann comes in at the back. Further forward, Baumgartner takes Antonio Nusa's place in attacking midfield.

Marco Rose's thoughts on Augsburg

"It's a difficult away game in Augsburg, against a fundamentally aggressive team. Augsburg play very compactly and defend diligently. They have clear processes against the ball and simple processes with the ball. We won the first game and now we want to end Augsburg's unbeaten streak in their stadium. Because we need the points."
camera-photo

Jess Thorup's thoughts on Leipzig

"After three away games, it's finally time for a home game again. We have recently stabilised defensively and want to continue to improve offensively. If we want to pick up and points against Leipzig, we have to be at our best at both ends of the pitch."

Augsburg's illness crisis

The hosts could potentially be without a trio of defenders for this clash. Chrislain Matsima, Keven Schlotterbeck, Elvis Rexhbeçaj and Steve Mounié have all been struggling with illness this week, and is currently unclear as to whether any will be available this Friday.

Leipzig without Nusa

RB have confirmed that the winger will be unavailable for the visit to Augsburg. The 19-year-old suffered a knee injury in last weekend's victory over St. Pauli and is expected to be out until the end of March.
