FALLEN APART

Freiburg had the league's meanest defence and hadn't conceded more than two in a game this season before tonight.
86'

ALL OVER NOW

Dahoud pulls out the forward roll in celebration, but this was an easy one. Schulz with the cutback and the midfielder was completely free in the box, with time and space to pick out the far top corner.

A RARE, RARE MOMENT

Brandt's yellow card a few minutes ago was only the second of his Bundesliga career - this is his 245th match! The first came back in his maiden campaign, against Hamburg while playing for Leverkusen in April 2014. He'd gone 237 games since then without a card before today.
79'

2000

That fourth strike was Dortmund's 2000th goal at home in the Bundesliga. Only Bayern have more on home soil (2629).
77'

HAALAND AGAIN!

He goes for a third with an effort across goal that goes wide. The Norwegian has now scored a brace or better in 20 of his 56 Bundesliga appearances.
75'

CLINICAL HAALAND!

Freiburg lose the ball inside their own half, Dahoud comes forward before playing the through ball and Haaland does the rest, slotting his shot between Uphoff's legs. That might nip any potential comeback in the bud.

SCHADE!

Determined run in from the left wing by the Freiburg youngster. He's invited to shoot so does so. Kobel just holds on.

ALMOST FOR FREIBURG

Freiburg finally get a set piece right as Günter swings in his corner from the left. But Höler doesn't quite seem to be expecting it and the ball basically hits him before bouncing into Kobel's grateful arms.

A RARE MOMENT

Demirovic's goal is actually the first Freiburg have scored away at Dortmund since Nils Petersen got a brace here on 27 January 2018.
66'

DOUBLE FREIBURG CHANGE

Keitel is 21 and Weißhaupt only 20 - what can the youngsters do here in Dortmund? The 750 fans in attendance are trying to crank up the volume and make sure their side don't get caught again.
64'

DEMIROVIC BACK AMONG THE GOALS

It's the striker's first since Matchday 32 of last season at Cologne. He'd gone 18 appearances since then without a goal.
61'

THERE'S SOMETHING!

Game on? Freiburg get one back as Sallai's effort across goal is only parried by Kobel. Demirovic is on the spot, gets the ball out of his feet and tucks it home.

THE TWO HEROES SO FAR

55'

HARMLESS

Freiburg have a league-high 16 goals from set pieces this season but they've failed to make any tell tonight - in stark contrast to Dortmund. Another Günter free-kick from the left here sails past everyone in the middle and Borussia walk it clear.
53'

ANOTHER DANGEROUS CORNER

Brandt again over the set piece from the left and bends it in towards the front post. Haaland makes a dart for it but Akanji gets there first with his flicked header that only just loops wide of the far stick.
50'

DEMIROVIC!

Another substitute looking to have an impact. He's in behind and rounds Kobel, but sees yellow shirts back on the line already so waits for support but is crowded out before any arrive.
49'

DAHOUD!

The midfielder runs onto a free ball a good 25 yards out and makes the perfect connection, absolutely pinging it towards goal, but straight into the arms of Uphoff.
47'

ALMOST AN IMPACT

Schade bursts through the middle and into the box before going down. No foul but referee Badstübner instead signals handball after he fell on it. But better already from Freiburg.
46'

THREE CHANGES

Both coaches opt for half-time substitutions. Dortmund make the one that looked like happening earlier with Akanji on for Can. Freiburg decide they can't just sit back so send on more firepower in Demirovic and Schade for Grifo and Jeong.

DOMINANT DORTMUND

It's been a commanding first-half display by the hosts. Freiburg have registered just one attempt, and that's being generous given it was a Jeong header that just popped up in the air. Meunier has been the star with his two headers, while Haaland looks to have wrapped this up inside just 45 minutes.

YOU KNOW WHO!

The two-game drought is over - and maybe this game is as well. Bellingham does very well in the centre to dispossess Höler and he's away, laying the ball right to Haaland who finishes with aplomb on his left peg.

ESTEEMED COMPANY

The last Dortmund player to score two goals from corners in a Bundesliga game was Mats Hummels against Bielefeld in October 2020.

STILL NO SIGN OF FREIBURG

Streich will no doubt have some choice words in his strong southwestern dialect for his team.

TURNING A CORNER

Dortmund has scored just two goals from corners in the first 18 games of this season. Conversely, Freiburg had conceded only two.
35'

ALMOST THREE!

Guerreiro goes low with a free-kick from right of centre, wide of the wall. It's straight at Uphoff but he can't hold and is relieved when Gulde gets there to clear just ahead of the lurking Haaland.

MEUNIER MAGIC

The Belgian had scored just once in his first 36 Bundesliga appearances. He's already got two tonight...
32'

DAHOUD!

Pin ball in the Freiburg box that only ends with the ball sitting up kindly for Dahoud on the edge of the area. He puts his laces through it but the ball is always rising over the crossbar.

MEUNIER AGAIN!

Third time is the charm from Brandt and Meunier has another! His first was a corner from the left and to the near post, this time it's from the right and goes deep, but it's the same outcome as the Belgian heads in his second of the evening to double the advantage.

STRING OF CORNERS

Another in-swinger from Brandt is palmed away by the scrambling Uphoff. His second from the right is headed back behind. Third one coming up...
26'

CAN HE CONTINUE?

Emre Can has gone down and needs help getting off the pitch before the physios set about performing some magic on his leg. Manuel Akanji had stripped off to get ready but is told to put his bib back on and continue warming up as Can returns to the pitch.
25'

FREIBURG FREE-KICK

Grifo delivers from wide on the left but it's a waste as Sallai is penalised for a push on Haaland in the box.

NOT AT THE RACES

Freiburg boss Streich said during the week that his team needed the same sort of performance that saw them beat Dortmund in the reverse fixture, but we're yet to see any of that yet. BVB very much in control thus far.
19'

BELLINGHAM LURKING

The young England international has licence to get forward and almost gets onto a through ball, but Uphoff is out just ahead of him.
17'

RARE TO HOLD BVB

Dortmund have scored in 50 of their last 51 Bundesliga games. The one exception was the 1-0 loss at Gladbach this season. They've bagged at least two in each of their last 13 home league matches.

MEUNIER HEADS IN!

Freiburg are the set-piece kings in the Bundesliga this season but they've just had a taste of their own medicine. Brandt with the in-swinging corner to the near post, where Meunier gets ahead of his marker and flicks it inside the far stick with his head for his first goal of the campaign.

CHANCE FOR BELLINGHAM!

For the first time tonight Dortmund have space with a long ball up the right to Haaland. He takes his time before firing across the face of goal looking for Bellingham, but the ball goes through the legs of the Englishman in the six-yard box. He was maybe put off by the swinging legs in front of him.
キックオフ

LOCAL ICONS

Captains Marco Reus and Christian Günter contest the toss. They're both local boys for their respective teams. You don't get that too often these days.

MOMENTS AWAY

The 750 in attendance have finished their rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and the players are in the tunnel.

A GENTLE RETURN

There will be 750 spectators inside the cavernous Signal Iduna Park tonight after local governments allowed a gradual return of fans to stadiums in Germany.

WHO EXPECTED THIS?

Who would’ve thought at the start of the season that Dortmund against Freiburg would be second against fourth after the halfway point? Probably not even the most ardent of Freiburg supporters, who have been able to witness their club’s second-best Bundesliga campaign to date. It’s a remarkable feat for Christian Streich - the league's longest serving coach after just clocking 10 years at the helm - and one of the German top flight’s smallest clubs, who are now targeting a third successive victory over the mighty BVB.

PREVIOUS MEETING: FREIBURG 2-1 DORTMUND

FREIBURG TEAM NEWS

As for the visitors, Christian Streich makes just one change from the team that blew a 2-0 lead to draw with Bielefeld. It sees Manuel Gulde replace Keven Schlotterbeck in central defence, with the latter not in the squad. His brother Nico is also not involved, just like first-choice goalkeeper Mark Flekken. New signing Hugo Siquet is also in line for his debut after the 19-year-old right-back joined from Standard Liege.

DORTMUND TEAM NEWS

It’s a rare unchanged XI from Dortmund, with Marco Rose naming the same team that started the dramatic 3-2 win at Frankfurt last Saturday. It’s the first time since last January that BVB have gone with the same line-up in consecutive games. Manuel Akanji is also back in the squad following knee surgery. He last featured in the Klassiker defeat to Bayern at the start of December.
