Full-time: Fürth 2-2 Hannover

In the end, it's a fair result, even though Hannover will certainly be frustrated not to have defended their two leads. Fürth never gave up and scored a late but deserved equaliser.

Corner for Hannover

Bundu wins another corner. Neubauer delivers it from the right towards the goal. Boevink plays it safe and punches it away.

Dream debut

Abrangao scored his first goal in his first appearance at the professional level; it was his first shot on goal and his fifth touch of the ball in this one.

Källman with the chance!

Uncertainty in the Fürth defence. Ziereis and Münz are not on the same page. The 96ers striker gets the bouncing ball at the edge of the penalty area, but fails again from close range against Boevink.

The captain has to come off

Apparently the collision with Blank earlier was harder than initially thought. After brief treatment on the pitch, he is now being replaced by Roggow.

Another lead squandered

Hannover must accept the criticism of not being decisive enough. Before the equaliser, Taibi had the chance to seal the match after a cross from the left.

GOOOOOOOAL!

Fürth almost conceded a third, but strike back immediately. Free-kick cross from Hrgota from the left. The ball is flicked on by Blank at the near post, and at the far post Abrangao rises high and heads in from close range. What an equaliser!

Free kick for Fürth

Hrgota brings out the sledgehammer. The ball is ready just behind the right edge of the penalty area. The captain fires it towards Noll, who can only parry the ball forward. The visitors manage to clear the situation with a group effort.
75'

Brief interruption

Blank and Leopold collided heads when going for a high ball in midfield. The 96ers defender needs treatment, appears dazed. His colleague is back on his feet.
73'

Triple change

Green comes on for Dietz to bring more offensive power in the centre. Higl and Abrangao are brought on to add more pace down the left flank.
72'

Changes for Hannover

During Fürth's period of pressure, Hannover make two changes. Sterner comes on for the industrious Matsuda. Taibi also replaces Aseko Nkili, who wasn't able to make much of an impact.
70'

Pivot Point

Klaus is so important for the home side mainly because of his resistance against pressing. He has been under opponent pressure in possession 14 times so far. In almost three-quarters of those situations, he was able to hold his own.

Fingertip save for Noll!

Brilliant cross from the left side by John. Consbruch rises high at the near post. The 96ers keeper just manages to tip his header around the post.
64'

Futkeu with an attempt

It's a corner from the right and Noll doesn't come out decisively enough. Nevertheless, he irritates the Fürth attacker enough so that he can't place the header cleanly. Lucky for the 96ers.

MATSUDA GRABS THE LEAD!

Matsuda makes up for his mistake before the 1-1 and puts his team in the lead. On the left, it's a cross from Nkili that goes past everyone. At the far post, Bundu lays the ball off and Matsuda smashes it into the net from close range with no mercy.

What happened there?

Klaus drives the ball forward, just before the penalty area he lays it off to Consbruch on the left. He cuts inside, aims for the top right corner with his right foot. A Hannover player deflects the shot for what appears to be a corner. However, the referee awards a goal kick. Consbruch receives a yellow card for his protest.

Tackling strength

The tackles of the home side, especially in midfield, are proving to be key so far. The team from Lower Saxony are struggling to create through the centre because there's no way past John, Cronsbruch and others.

A misunderstanding

Bundu receives on the right wing. As he finds himself in a two-against-one situation, Matsuda rushes to help. However, Bundu plays the pass too early and the run was in vain.
52'

Chance on the counter

It's like a green-white thread running through this match: Hannover try to play their football, but in midfield it stops at Cronsbruch at the latest. The number six wins the ball and initiates the Fürth counter. On the left, the pass doesn't reach John who had pushed forward.
48'

Almost a danger

Bundu and Rochelt combine on the right. The substitute is in the penalty area, but can't find a teammate and tries to overcomplicate things. Fürth manage to clear the ball.
47'

Double change for the 96ers

Tomiak has to stay in the dressing room, certainly also because of his yellow card. Additionally, Bundu comes on in attack for Chakroun.

Half-time: Fürth 1-1 Hannover

After a strong start from Hannover, Fürth have fought their way back into the match as the first half progressed. The truth is, however, that they are mainly being invited by the mistakes of the 96ers. Since the equaliser, it has been an evenly matched affair without any clear goal-scoring opportunities.

Shirt pulling

Ghiță looks for Matsuda in the right half-space with a flat pass. The Hannover player escapes his opponent with a quick turn. Münz has to hold him back and receives a yellow card for it. The free kick comes to nothing.
45'

Is there still something to come?

The Hannover players are having problems with the long balls from Boevink and Ziereis. Either they find Futkeu directly or Hrgota and Cronsbruch can snap up the second ball. Can they score an impactful goal before half-time?
43'

Hannover looking sloppy

The visitors controlled the opening phase, but now a few simple errors are creeping in. This is repeatedly inviting counter-attack from Fürth.
39'

At the very end

A clear yellow card for Tomiak, who brings down Klaus with a sliding tackle just a few metres in front of the penalty area during a counter-attack. The defender had no chance of getting the ball. The free-kick taken by Consbruch flies into the 96ers wall and is cleared.
37'

Balanced proceedings

Apart from the two goals, there haven't been any big scoring opportunities yet. Nevertheless, we're seeing a match on equal terms here, which is mainly due to the hosts, who are now growing in confidence.

There was more in it!

A lovely attack down the left flank, Dehm plays Cronsbruch free in the penalty area. A shot would have been possible. Instead, the advanced midfielder takes another touch and wants to go to the byline. There he is stopped by Ghiță.
33'

Top Fürth scorer

Futkeu has now already scored his sixth goal of the season, making him the sole top goalscorer for the Franconians, with Klaus behind him at five goals.

Chance for Chakroun!

Chakroun dribbles from the right towards the centre and is brought down. The free-kick initially comes to nothing, but the player who was fouled stays involved in the move, keeps possession of the ball and looks for a shot inside the penalty area. However, it only hits the side netting.
camera-photo

There's the equaliser!

That came out of nowhere! Matsuda loses the ball during a switch of play and the hosts counter-attack lightning-fast. Klaus drives the ball forward and serves Futkeu. The striker rounds Noll and slots into the empty net.

Nearly two for Hannover!

Källman nearly has his second goal at his feet, being nicely set up with a through ball from the centre. The Finnish international runs alone towards the home goal, but Boevink makes himself big and blocks the shot.
18'

Sloppy with the ball

Fürth cannot keep the ball within their own ranks for very long. Hrogta tries to drop deep in the build-up play, but the pressure from the visitors in the pressing is enormous.
15'

Noll plays along

Boevink catches a shot after a corner and immediately switches play with a drop kick. However, the Hannover keeper is alert and catches the long ball just beyond the halfway line.
13'

Venturing down the left again

The hosts simply cannot get a grip on the left flank. Nkili wins the ball in midfield, quickly transitions and plays Rochelt into space. His cross doesn't find a recipient, but it again creates danger in the Fürth penalty area.
12'

Fourth strike for Källman

The 96ers striker scored his fourth goal of the season which is now at least two more than any of his team-mates; his first three goals have come as a substitute.
9'

How will Fürth respond?

Another deficit for the home side to deal with. After conceding early, they seem to be unsettled for now. Neubauer delivers another cross from the half-space towards Källman. With combined efforts, the home defence manages to clear it for a corner.
camera-photo

Goooooal for Hannover!

What a lightning start from the visitors! Rochelt and Neubauer don't get enough pressure on the left. Neubauer delivers a low cross that goes past all Fürth players. At the far post, Källman gratefully taps the ball over the line. That's 1-0!

Now it's the 96ers' turn

After the early attack from the hosts, the Lower Saxony side seem to have recovered. Reich is played free on the left and looks to deliver a cross. But it lands directly in the arms of keeper Boevink.

First shot already

We're off to a good start here. Klaus dribbles forward on the right, lays it back to Consbruch at the edge of the penalty area. His backheel finds Hrgota, whose shot, unfortunately, goes wide of the goal.

Four changes for the hosts

Fürth boss Thomas Kleine makes four changes from the 1-0 defeat at Schalke. Dietz, Münz, Consbruch and Reich come in for Bjarnason, Itter, Keller, all of whom have not been named in the matchday squad, meanwhile Olesen is dropped to the bench.

One change for Hannover

96ers coach Christian Titz makes one change to his starting XI from the 3-1 home win against Bielefeld. Blank replaces Okon, who misses out due to a thigh injury.

Thomas Kleine on facing Hannover

"It's important to be clear, to be aggressive, and not to deviate from the path when things don't work out. We want to play well at home with the fans behind us this weekend."

Christian Titz on facing Greuther Fürth

"It will be a match where it will be important for us to attack in depth and create short-term numerical advantages to be successful. They have fast players up front, Futkeu and Klaus, and Hrgota, who positions himself well. We need to be solid in our pressing."

Hannover past

Fürth's Thomas Kleine was assistant coach to Andre Breitenreiter at Hannover from December 2024 to April 2025, and also played nine Bundesliga matches for the Lower Saxony club in the first half of the 2007/08 season after arriving from Greuther.

Familiar faces

Nahuel Noll was the first-choice goalkeeper at Fürth in 2024/25, while Jannik Dehm made 85 Bundesliga 2 appearances for Hannover over the last four seasons (scoring two goals). Felix Klaus (promoted with Hannover 96 in 2016/17) and Havard Nielsen (who fired Fürth into the Bundesliga in 2020/21) also have history with the opposition.
camera-photo

Goal guarantee Futkeu?

Last season, however, the 96ers remained winless against the Clover Leaves, with Noel Futkeu scoring in the 1-1 draw in Hannover and in the 1-0 victory at the Ronhof.

The Reds have the edge

Hannover have won 13 of 26 competitive matches against Fürth (24 in Bundesliga 2, two in the Bundesliga) and lost only five.
