Full-time: Karlsruhe 3-0 Paderborn

It wasn't to be for the visitors, who missed out on a play-off spot to finish the campaign in fourth place. A Raphael Obermaier penalty miss in the first half swung momentum in the hosts' favour and when Lilian Eglof's rare double left the away side against the ropes, Marcel Franke provided the knockout blow to help Karlsruhe celebrate a 400th win in the division.

The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals> xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals> goals).
Ansah misses the target from the left. It just doesn't seem to be the visitors' day. Despite an expected goals value of over two, Paderborn have failed to get off the mark so far today.

Results elsewhere are not helping the visitors right now but it's still up to Paderborn to apply the pressure by doing the business here. They'll have to shake off a first-half penalty miss and refocus for the second half as they aim for that play-off spot. As things stand, Lukas Kwasniok's men are fourth.

Can they do it again?

The 2-1 victory earlier on in the season was Karlsruhe's first victory over Paderborn since 2020. Back then, they managed a 1-0 home win.

Back to the old stomping ground

Paderborn coach Lukas Kwasniok was a youth player in Karlsruhe and coached various youth teams there too. In December 2016, he took over as interim manager of the Karlsruhe first team in the Bundesliga 2 for two matches. Both encounters he oversaw - against Braunschweig and in Dresden - ended in 0-0 draws.

Their favourite opponent

Paderborn have beaten Karlsruhe more often in the Bundesliga 2 than they have any other club, celebrating 12 victories in 23 matches.
