SVD make three changes
As for the away team, there are three changes. Boëtius makes his full debut, Bueno replaces the suspended Nürnberger, and top scorer Lidberg returns to the starting lineup after injury. Vilhelmsson and Förster make way.
One change for Braunschweig
For the hosts, coach Scherning makes only one change from the 2-0 win in Karlsruhe. Philippe starts in place of Tachie.
Darmstadt starting XI
Schuhen - Thiede, Riedel, Vukotić, Bueno - Papela, Müller - Boëtius, Corredor - Lidberg, Lakenmacher
Braunschweig starting XI
Hoffmann - Ivanov, Bičakčić, Ehlers - Dräger, Baas, Di Michele Sanchez - Gómez, Tempelmann - Szabó, Philippe
Daniel Scherning's thoughts on Darmstadt
"We know that this will be a very interesting, exciting and difficult task. Since Florian Kohfeldt became manager, a lot has changed at Darmstadt. Despite their very tense personnel situation, they have a very, very good starting XI. We need to significantly improve on the things we didn't do so well in Karlsruhe in order to win this match."
Long suspension for Nürnberger
The midfielder will be unavailable for the Lilies for eight matches following two acts of violent conduct.
Florian Kohfeldt's thoughts on Braunschweig
"Braunschweig are in good form and have come back very well from the winter break. They have collected a total of five points in the new year against tough opponents. Particularly when they take the lead, they become very difficult to play against with their strong back three in central defence. They then become very dangerous on counter-attacks because they have a lot of pace. Even though they usually pose a threat from set-pieces and in transition, they have a very active approach."
Goalkeeper in focus
Marcel Schuhen has not lost any of his seven second-tier matches against Braunschweig (three wins and four draws with Darmstadt and Sandhausen) and has conceded only four goals during that time.
Pleasant memory
In the last encounter in Braunschweig in August 2022, Darmstadt celebrated their first away head-to-head victory in 36 years. Then 18-year-old Oscar Vilhelmsson scored his first goal in Germany to secure a 1-0 win for the Lilies.
It's been a while
Eintracht last won against the Lilies over 10 years ago (2-0 at home in Bundesliga 2 in September 2014).
