Full-time: Nuremberg 2-0 Ulm
Nuremberg ultimately emerge as the winners. You could say they deserved it, too, as they were rewarded for their late pressure. Ulm, meanwhile, showed too little offensively and only managed 0.38 xGoals. The 2-0 scoreline is justified given the hosts' good second half performance.

The decisive moment!
Ulm throw everything forward and that's how the second goal comes about. After a botched throw-in, there's also a misplaced pass, which Antiste chases down and then coolly slots past Ortag.

Double yellow

GOOOAL!
A brilliant goal, and again in the 85th minute as Nuremberg's pressure pays off. Jander finds no passing option at the edge of Ulm's penalty area and simply cuts inside himself. The midfielder then hammers the ball from there into the top left corner with a long-range thunderbolt. Will that wonder strike be enough?
84'
Drexler!
Nuremberg are applying pressure and Ulm are defending in the last few minutes. Drexler gets a shot off from the right side of the penalty area, but Ortag manages to parry the ball away.

Chance squandered
Jander passes from the left to Tzimas in the centre, but the striker can't control the ball properly and fails to get a shot away.

Leipertz down
Leipertz, who was just substituted on, goes down briefly after an unintentional collision with an opponent. However, he's already back on his feet.
73'
Substitution
Leipertz now occupies the centre-forward position as Telalović's day is done. Can he bring about Ulm's first victory against Nuremberg in 20 years?
69'
Double substitution
Lubach and Yilmaz are done for the day, Soares and Antiste are brought on as the Club go in search of a win.

Floodgates opened?
The next Nuremberg shot arrives just a few minutes later. This time, Justvan aims for the near post from the left half-space, testing Ortag. The keeper just manages to get down and parries it for a corner.
66'
Castrop!
Unintentional, but dangerous. Castrop's cross is overhit and sails down behind Ortag, who just manages to tip the ball over the crossbar.
64'
First Nuremberg shot on goal
Justvan is the architect as he immediately attempts a curling shot after being found by Luhbach. Not a bad effort, as Ortag only secures it at the second attempt.

Ulm down to ten men
Krattenmacher is now shown a second yellow card. He goes down in the penalty area and is booked again for simulation, resulting in his dismissal from the pitch.

Picking up the pace
The Franconians are moving the ball around well since the restart. They circulate it around the opposition's penalty area, with Justvan eventually looking for a shot, but his attempt is too imprecise.

No one on the end of it
Yilmaz quickly plays down the left flank and crosses towards the incoming Tzimas. However, the ball sails over him and goes out for a throw-in on the opposite side.

We're back underway!
The ball is rolling again. For Ulm, Reichert replaces Kolbe in defence.

Half-time: Nuremberg 0-0 Ulm
A very hard-fought first half ends all square. There haven't been any real clear-cut chances from either side yet, but Nuremberg are doing a bit more so far. Both teams need to significantly improve if they want to secure a victory though.

Lubach handles it best

Foul
Jander spots Knoche, who has made a run to the far post, and crosses. Knoche then creates space for himself by pushing his opponent forward slightly. It is given as a foul, but his header was well over the crossbar anyway.
39'
Solid defence
Ulm are trying to combine their way towards the goal, especially down the right flank, but Lubach manages to defend well against the attacking attempts. Both defences have been solid so far.
35'
Tzimas!
Lubach plays in the Greek forward, who has to assert himself against both Ulm centre-backs. He fails to do so and, although he wins a corner, it comes to nothing.
32'
A battle
Both teams are not giving an inch, especially in midfield - the match is currently being interrupted by fouls frequently at the moment.

Krattenmacher sees yellow
The attacking player loses the ball and then tries to make amends, but pulls Karafiát's shirt too much, causing him to fall. He receives a booking for this.

Double penalty appeal
Nuremberg shoot at goal twice within seconds and appeal for two penalties. However, neither is given.

Karafiát attempts a shot from distance, but the effort is blocked.

First danger!
Almost midway through the first half, there's finally some threat from an Ulm set-piece. Batista Meier curls a free-kick directly towards the near post, but it sails just a few centimetres over the crossbar.

Frequent loss of possession
In the last few minutes, both teams have lost the ball regularly during their build-up play.

Birthday boy
Oliver Batista Meier celebrates his 24th birthday today. In his last three second division matches for Ulm, he has scored two goals and provided two assists.
Changes are rare
For the sixth time this season in the second division, Klose leaves his starting eleven unchanged.
Three changes for Ulm
Sparrows coach Thomas Wörle makes three changes to the team that lost to Paderborn; Hyryläinen, Rösch and Telalović play in place of Dressel (suspended due to a red card), Stoll and Higl (both on the bench).
Never change a winning team
Nuremberg manager Miroslav Klose sends out the same starting eleven that beat Magdeburg 4-3 last time out.
Ulm starting XI
Ortag - Gaal, Strompf, Kolbe - Rösch, Brandt, Hyryläinen, Keller - Krattenmacher, Batista Meier - Telalović
This is how the Club lines up
Reichert - Villadsen, Drexler, Knoche, Karafiát, Yilmaz - Justvan, Jander, Lubach, Castrop - Tzimas
Thomas Wörle on facing Nuremberg:
"Nuremberg have won four out of their last five matches, which is quite impressive. They are capable of increasing the tempo at any time. We have to stand our ground! However, it's not just about defending. We can't rely solely on counter-attacks - we need to actively shape the game as well. I thought we performed well in the reverse fixture. It's about getting something like vengeance."
Miroslav Klose on facing Ulm
"My first words after the match in Magdeburg were about this clash with Ulm. The team has understood the significance of this match, and if they can reproduce the kind performances they have been showing in training, we will see a good match."
Ulm's last victory against Nuremberg was historic. In 2001, the Sparrows made history with a 2-1 win in the DFB Cup as a fifth-tier club against the then Bundesliga side, the only time a team from that level or lower has ever knocked out a top-flight outfit.
Good omen
Nuremberg and Ulm are playing in the same league for the first time in 24 years. Shared second division seasons with the Sparrows have ended well for the Club - on each occasion in 2000/01, 1984/85 and 1979/80, Nuremberg were promoted to the Bundesliga!
Turbulent reverse fixture
The meeting between the two in Ulm was one of the most intense matches of this season. Eleven yellow cards were shown, while Stefanos Tzimas saw red in the 100th minute (he had previously scored his first goal in Bundesliga 2). Nuremberg ultimately won 2-1 through a penalty in stoppage time - Christian Ortag saved Lukas Schleimer's first attempt, but the penalty was retaken and this time, Taylan Duman converted.
