However, it's not just about defending. We can't rely solely on counter-attacks - we need to actively shape the game as well. I thought we performed well in the reverse fixture. It's about getting something like vengeance."

Over 20 years ago
Ulm's last victory against Nuremberg was historic. In 2001, the Sparrows made history with a 2-1 win in the DFB Cup as a fifth-tier club against the then Bundesliga side, the only time a team from that level or lower has ever knocked out a top-flight outfit.
Good omen
Nuremberg and Ulm are playing in the same league for the first time in 24 years. Shared second division seasons with the Sparrows have ended well for the Club - on each occasion in 2000/01, 1984/85 and 1979/80, Nuremberg were promoted to the Bundesliga!
Turbulent reverse fixture
The meeting between the two in Ulm was one of the most intense matches of this season. Eleven yellow cards were shown, while Stefanos Tzimas saw red in the 100th minute (he had previously scored his first goal in Bundesliga 2). Nuremberg ultimately won 2-1 through a penalty in stoppage time - Christian Ortag saved Lukas Schleimer's first attempt, but the penalty was retaken and this time, Taylan Duman converted.
