Hannover 96 apply pressure

A brief spell of pressure from the hosts. However, neither dribbling, free-kicks, corner kicks nor flick-ons produce anything tangible. KSC, led by veteran Jung, successfully defend everything.

Reward for 96?

More and more accurate passes (86 percent accuracy) from Hannover, who want to reap the rewards from this. With added time, they still have 15 minutes to do so.

Attacking boost

That leveller was just Jessic Ngankam's second goal of the season, the previous one coming back on Matchday 3 in the 1-0 home victory against HSV. Today, he's invigorating the Hannover attack.
73'

Jessic Ngankam!

The substitute striker threatens again. The Eintracht loanee receives the ball on the right during a fast counter-attack, dribbles and shoots low. Zieler saves comfortably, however.

The expected goals (xG) statistics speak clearly - as do Hannover's seven shots on goal to four. The equaliser is more than deserved.

Persistence pays off

Wow! Monju Momuluh dribbles into the penalty area with great pace from the right, falls down, gets up, passes to Jessic Ngankam. He breaks through with skill and luck and smashes the ball into the roof of the net from a seemingly impossible angle. Brilliant goal!

Crossbar cracker

Once again, the dangerous Lee can only be stopped by a foul 25 metres from goal. Halstenberg steps up and smashes a powerful curling shot onto the crossbar. So close!

KSC take the lead

After a counter-attack opportunity and a bouncing header, Zieler clears for a corner, which is driven in to the near post. Out-muscling two defenders in the process, Franke powerfully heads it into the far corner.

Big chance

After a cross from the left, an unmarked Håvard Nielsen controls the ball with his chest at the far post and shoots while falling. Weiß does well to save before the ball is cleared before it can be poked home inside the other upright.
21'

Wanitzek!

The first good chance for the visitors. Wanitzek, with an individual effort down the left, breaks into the penalty area and is denied by Zieler from a tight angle.
20'

Cross

Weiß intercepts a cross before Voglsammer can pose a threat. This wasn't the first dangerous delivery from the home side.

Hannover with slight advantage

55 percent of duels won, four shots to nil. Hannover have had a slightly better start here. KSC, on the other hand, have had a bit more possession. It's a good beginning to this top-of-the-table clash between second and fourth place. All that's missing is some clear-cut chances.
14'

Leopold too late

Wanitzek is tackled from behind by Leopold after a long ball. First yellow card of the match.
12'

Header

Kunze is unmarked following corner, but his header from five metres out is too central.
10'

Leopold tries his luck

A short corner kick reaches Leopold at the edge of the penalty area, and he immediately takes a shot, and his low effort goes just wide of the far post.
10'

Long ball

Long ball to Kunze, who heads it down to Voglsammer, who doesn't hesitate to shoot from a central position. His shot is blocked for a corner, which proves harmless.
7'

Misunderstanding

KSC keeper Max Weiß takes his time building up play, then passes to the centre, where Hannover are pressing tightly. A misplaced pass follows, but it's not punished. Lucky escape for the visitors.
6'

First corner

KSC penetrate the penalty area for the first time and Hannover clear at the expense of a corner kick, which yields nothing.
2'

Two confident teams

The self-confidence is immediately visible in both teams. Initially, KSC presses the 96 defensive line well. Subsequently, there is a first good spell of possession for the home side.
1'

Kick-off

The ball is rolling in Hannover.
Coup d’envoi!

KSC showing two changes

KSC coach Christian Eichner makes two changes to his starting eleven compared to the last match (a 2-0 victory in the DFB-Pokal in Offenbach): Leon Jensen and Fabian Schleusener play in place of Robin Heußer and Luca Pfeiffer (both on the bench).

Hannover with three changes

Lee, Rochelt and Nielsen start in place of Knight, Ngankam and Tresoldi.

Karlsruhe starting XI

Weiß - Jung, Franke, Beifus, Herold - Rapp, Jensen, Burnić, Wanitzek - Schleusener, Zivzivadze

Hannover starting XI

Zieler - Muroya, Neumann, Halstenberg, Wdowik - Leopold, Kunze, Rochelt, Lee - Nielsen, Voglsammer

Eichner's view on Hannover

"Hannover are an outstanding team, with Halstenberg being an absolute exceptional player in their ranks who understands the game in its entirety. We are facing one of the biggest challenges that Bundesliga 2 currently has to offer."

Leitl's view on Karlsruhe

"We've won two matches, kept two clean sheets. That gives us even more confidence - and we need to bring this energy onto the pitch from the first minute tomorrow."

Karlsruhe's long winless streak

Karlsruhe are winless away at Hannover in 12 competitive visits. Their last victory was over 36 years ago when they won 3-2 in the Bundesliga under Winnie Schäfer in July 1988.

Promoted together

Hannover recorded their biggest win in professional football when they beat Karlsruhe 8-0 in November 1986. It was KSC's heaviest defeat in the second division but still didn't stop them gaining promotion that season alongside Hannover.

Good home record

Hannover's only loss at home to Karlsruhe in Bundesliga 2 came in the first such meeting in August 1983 (5-1). The Red Shorts have since managed seven wins and three draws on their patch.
