While Borussia Dortmund were understandably satisfied at reaching the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League with a 4-0 win over Qäbälä FK, their joy was tempered by an injury to superstar Marco Reus.
Thomas Tuchel (Dortmund coach): “We wanted to put them under pressure early on by using Matthias Ginter and Mats Hummels, especially as they were man-marking Julian Weigl. In the second half our positioning and the tempo of our passing was a lot better. We played well. I’m looking forward to the derby now. Marco Reus might make it, but he might not.”
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Dortmund forward): “It was important to score early in the game. Marco [Reus] did well and got a great goal. I’m happy I scored tonight too because I missed so many chances in our last Bundesliga game. It’s a really important win. It was a crucial game tonight and we won it so now we can focus on the next game in the Bundesliga. It’s a derby [against Schalke] and I’m looking forward to it. We know how important it is in Dortmund and I hope we can get a similar result to when we played them last season [a 3-0 victory at home]. Marco has a little problem with his adductor. I hope it’s not too serious because we need him in our next game.”
Marco Reus (Dortmund forward): “It’s difficult to say exactly what the injury is so soon after the game. I felt a little twinge in the adductors before I scored so we’ll just have to wait and see what the diagnosis is tomorrow.”
