Dortmund - After a topsy-turvy start to his Borussia Dortmund career, Ciro Immobile has finally found a foothold at Signal Iduna Park.

The 24-year-old Italy striker scored the opener in BVB's 2-0 victory against Arsenal FC on Matchday 1 of the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League campaign, the summer signing opening his account for the 1997 winners to pave the way for an impressive win.

Speaking after the game, last season's Serie A top scorer seemed a very happy man indeed, telling the media of his relief at finally getting off the mark, as well as his hope and expectation of more good things to come.

Question: Ciro Immobile, Dortmund enjoyed a perfect start into this Champions League campaign with this 2-0 win over Arsenal. What are your feelings about the victory?

Immobile: Obviously it was very important for us to get off to a good start. We were really focused on putting in a good performance, and the fact that we also played such quality football makes us feel good and is really important to us. We dominated the game throughout, and just looking at the stats tells you we deserved to win.

Question: Tell us about your debut goal for Dortmund.

Ciro Immobile: I received the ball deep in midfield and saw I had a lot of space. None of the opposition players attacked me so I tried to make use of it. I wanted this goal so much, so I just ran towards goal to have a chance of scoring. I was overwhelmed once the ball hit the back of net.

Question: How much does this goal mean to you personally? Will it help your confidence?

Immobile: It was a very, very important strike for me. I’m relieved. Everyone at Dortmund has been waiting for me to score, people expect me to notch goals. This goal will boost my confidence and help me trust my skills. It will make me even stronger and hungrier in the coming weeks. It was a very important goal for the team as well in terms of the next few games.

Question: Did you mull over the opportunities you missed in the previous games? Were you worried the fans might doubt your quality?

Immobile: The fans gave me a huge applause on my substitution tonight and I really enjoyed that, although I’m sure there were moments when some of people will have had doubts, as I'd failed to find the net in previous games. That's football, though. I’d been dreaming of playing in this stadium in front of these fans and wearing this shirt, and after a game like this, it's easy to see why.

Question: You were a given standing ovation when you were substituted five minutes from time…

Immobile: The atmosphere here is incredible, especially in front of a sell-out crowd and when more than 65,000 people are shouting your name. I was overwhelmed when they did that. It was a fantastic feeling. I actually had goosebumps.

Question: How will you celebrate today’s victory, and of course your goal?

Immobile (laughing): I’ll just take it easy and enjoy the rest of the day at home with my wife and my child.
