Cologne - Records, milestones and premieres - Bundesliga Matchday 3 served up a feast for statisticians to dissect as clubs and players head into the international break.

General

bundesliga.com has collated the most interesting statistical tidbits to emerge from the third round of action in Germany’s top flight.

14 – FC Bayern München have won their first three games in a Bundesliga season for the 14th time. In ten of the last 13 seasons Bayern have achieved that feat, they’ve gone on to win the title.

6 – Referees pointed to the spot on seven separate occasions on Matchday 5 a new season best. No single Matchday in the 2014/15 campaign boasted as many penalties.

2 – A straight red card was not produced in either of the opening two Matchdays of the 53rd Bundesliga season, but two were handed out this weekend.

Streaks

8 – Borussia Dortmund have won all eight of their games in all competitions. The last time they enjoyed a winning streak of that length was at the beginning of 2012.

14 – SV Darmstadt 98 are unbeaten in the last 14 matches at the Böllenflltor dating back to last season. In that timeframe the newly-promoted side have picked up seven wins and seven draws.

8 – Hamburger SV head coach Bruno Labbadia lost for the first time against 1. FC Köln in his 8th Bundesliga encounter against die Geißböcken.

7 – Hannover 96 have gone the opening three games of a season without a win for the first time in seven years.

3 – SV Darmstadt 98 have drawn for a third time in three games so far this season. Only VfL Bochum 1848 shared the spoils more often than die Lillien in the second tier last season.

2 – FC Ingolstadt 04 have won two out of two away games in 2015/16. The only other newly-promoted side to achieve that feat was Fortuna Düsseldorf in 1966.

0 – With no points and a minus six goal difference after the opening three games, VfB Stuttgart are in the midst of the worst start to a season in the club’s history. Furthermore, Alexander Zorniger became the first head coach to lose all of his first three games in charge of die Schwaben.

Goals

25 – Lewis Holtby scored his first goal for Hamburger SV in his 25th appearance with his 24th shot on goal. His last Bundesliga goal was scored for FC Schalke 04 against Hannover 96 on 18 January 2013.

3 – Yoshinori Muto bagged a brace in only his third Bundesliga game, no other Japanese player has achieved that feat in a shorter space of time. He becomes the 16th player from the land of the rising son to score in Germany’s top flight.

11 - Mats Hummels has scored 11 of his 18 Bundesliga goals with his head.

5 - Jannik Vestergaard has scored five of his six Bundesliga goals from corners, four have which have been headers.

Milestones

200 – In his 200th Bundesliga appearance, Thomas Müller scored his 75th goal to put FC Bayern München 1-0 up against Bayer 04 Leverkusen before bagging a brace, the 15th time he’s scored at least twice in Germany’s top flight.

Miscellaeneous

109 - Julian Weigl had 109 touches of the ball - the first time he's broken the 100 touches mark in his Bundesliga career.

101 – FC Bayern are still yet to lose a game in the first half of the season under Pep Guardiola. The German record titleholders have picked up 101 of a possible 111 points in the first half of Bundesliga campaigns (32 wins, five draws).

27.5 – Ingolstadt named their oldest starting line-up – average age of 27.5 years old – since May 2013. It’s also the oldest first XI that Ralph Hasenhuttl has named since taking over as die Schanzer’s head coach in October 2013.

19 – Seven point after three Matchday represents the best start to a Bundesliga campaign in 19 years. In the 1996/97 season Köln won their first three encounters.

7 – In his seventh game as a guest head coach or player, Armin Veh won in Stuttgart for the first time in his career.

3 – Mainz clinched their biggest win under Martin Schmidt in the 3-0 victory against Hannover.

1 – Eduardo Vargas made his Bundesliga debut after coming off the bench in Darmstadt and became the first Chilean player to pull on a TSG 1899 Hoffenheim shirt.
