Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski says the club's recent turnaround in form is due in part to his blossoming strike partnership with Thomas Müller.

Niko Kovac's side did not win a league match at all in November, slipping nine points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund in the standings, but have since turned a corner and won both games so far this month.

"We've had internal discussions about the issue of getting players into the box," Lewandowski told Germany's SportBild newspaper. "We're implementing that much better now, which is also thanks to Thomas. We're now creating more chances than we did between Matchdays 5 and 10."

There is no denying that. Bayern won just twice, losing two and drawing two in that period. They only found the net seven times, and failed to score at all in the back-to-back defeats against Hertha Berlin and Borussia Mönchengladbach.

However, in their subsequent seven games in all competitions they have scored 20, winning four and progressing to the next round of the UEFA Champions League. And Lewandowski believes the tactical tweak of pushing Müller higher up the pitch as a second striker is paying rich dividends.

"It’s better if I can play alongside someone in attack," he said. "With Thomas next to me it’s easier. He helps me a lot. We complement each other very well.” There is no denying that either. The Poland international has six goals and one assist in his last five competitive outings, while Müller has two goals and two assists over that same period.

The duo will be looking to add to their haul when Bayern travel to 17th-placed Hannover on Matchday 15 this weekend.
