Borussia Mönchengladbach have confirmed the signing of SV Werder Bremen centre-back Jannik Vestergaard.

'Borussia are a great club'

The 23-year-old Denmark international, who turned out 33 times at the heart of the Bremen defence in the recently-ended Bundesliga season, has signed a five-year contract that ties him to the Foals until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

All this summer's confirmed deals on one page!

"Despite his young age, Jannik will play an important role in our defence due to his experience and physical presence," commented Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl. "We're delighted that he has decided to join Borussia."

Former Brondby IF, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and Bremen defender Vestergaard moves to Gladbach with 119 Bundesliga appearances under his belt and is the club's second big-name summer signing after 2014 World Cup winner Christoph Kramer's return was confirmed in midweek.

"Borussia are a great club with big ambitions," the 6'6" Dane told media at his official unveiling. "I'm ready to take this step. I'm also looking forward to playing together with [fellow Denmark defender] Andreas Christensen here."
