- Wood, Halilovic and Kostic make Hamburg debuts.
- The Red Shorts beat Stoke 1-0.
- Gregoritsch keen to integrate newcomers fast.
Bundesliga ever-presents Hamburger SV had more than just the result to celebrate following Saturday's 1-0 pre-season friendly win over English Premier League outfit Stoke City FC.
Although it was Michael Gregoritsch who grabbed the only goal of the game at the Volksparkstadion, it was the sight of summer signings Bobby Wood, Alen Halilovic and Filip Kostic in HSV colours for the first time that really got fans talking.
USMNT international striker Wood completed 45 first-half minutes following his participation in the Copa America Centenario, and was joined in the starting line-up by Serbia international winger Kostic. Both made way at the break, before Croatian prodigy Halilovic entered the fray, fresh from his much-talked-about transfer from FC Barcelona.
"It was good fun to play and it was a lot of fun being with the team," said Hamburg goalscorer Gregoritsch. "It doesn't matter who scores - the important thing is to win. Hopefully all the new signings will be well-integrated over the course of the next ten days."
