Match report: Borussia Dortmund 0-2 FC Bayern München

All times are CEST

Sunday 14 August

23:59 - That's a wrap!

So Bayern draw first blood with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Supercup. Will it be the first of many for Carlo Ancelotti? Not if Thomas Tuchel has anything to do with it, that's for sure. So much food for thought for both tacticians. It's going to be quite the tussle between last term's top two when the Bundesliga season kicks off in just under two weeks' time.

Until then, stay with us for all the latest Bundesliga news and don't forget to sign up to the Official Bundesliga Predictor and the Official Fantasy Bundesliga for your chance to win some exclusive prizes. Bragging rights are at stake, which is something Bayern's Mats Hummels knows all about. We'll let the former BVB defender have the final word:

23:06 - More match reaction

22:56 - Match reaction

Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel: "We put a lot into the game. That's what we set out to do. I'm really happy with the performance. Everything's in order."

Dortmund defender Marcel Schmelzer: "It was the first title of the season. The goal was to win it."

Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Bürki: "Really annoying. Until the opener, we played really well at the back."

22:44 - Ancelotti delights in second-half showing

22:31 - Party time

League President Dr. Reinhard Rauball is on the podium to congratulate the Bayern players and hand over the trophy to captain Philipp Lahm. Vidal's still limping as the red shirts go to celebrate with the travelling fans. Hopefully that's nothing too serious.

FULL-TIME - BAYERN WIN THE SUPERCUP 2016!

Carlo Ancelotti does what Pep Guardiola was unable to do before him. The Italian masterminds Bayern's first Supercup triumph since 2012, with second-half goals from Arturo Vidal and Thomas Müller doing the damage at the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK.

85' SUBSTITUTION - DORTMUND 0-2 BAYERN

He didn’t score at EURO 2016, but Müller more than played his part tonight. Rafinha comes on in his stead - Bayern's third and final change.

78' GOAAAAL! DORTMUND 0-2 BAYERN

Dortmund go to sleep from a corner as THOMAS MÜLLER sweeps home from close range to double Bayern's lead. Bürki is furious with his defenders for allowing Mats Hummels to win the initial header. Harsh lesson for BVB, this.

77' SUBSTITUTION - DORTMUND 0-1 BAYERN

Turkey international Emre Mor replaces Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Dortmund playing with a high line now, as they go in search of an equaliser.

71' SUBSTITUTION - DORTMUND 0-1 BAYERN

Vidal took a knock not long ago and Ancelotti is taking no chances. Joshua Kimmich enters the fray.

68' CH-CH-CH-CHANGES - DORTMUND 0-1 BAYERN

Thomas Tuchel rolls the dice: Andre Schürrle comes on in place of the impressive Dembele for his competitive Dortmund debut, while Adrian Ramos makes way for pass master Julian Weigl.

64' SUBSTITUTION - DORTMUND 0-1 BAYERN

Franck Ribery applauds the red section of the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK as he makes way for Kingsley Coman. Like-for-like on the Bayern left-hand side.

58' GOAAAAAL! DORTMUND 0-1 BAYERN

This is why Bayern's ARTURO VIDAL is the best box-to-box player in the business. Thomas Müller lets a ball across the Dortmund box run for the Chilean workhorse, whose initial strike is well saved by Bürki. The Swiss stopper can't keep hold of it, though, and Vidal smashes in the follow-up. Advantage Bayern!

56' DEMBELE! DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Quick feet from Dembele. Bayern can't get near him, but Neuer gets down well to push it round the post. Boy, can this lad play!

49' PASSLACK! DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Felix Passlack is making a real impression on this game. The intrepid 19-year-old skins Franck Ribery, lays the ball off and continues his run. There he is again on the edge of the Bayern box - he gets right behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's pass and Manuel Neuer has to dive full stretch to his left to beat it away. Wonder what our make of the Bottrop native?

46' SECOND HALF - DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

No changes at the break from either side. Will we get a goal or are we heading for penalties?

HALF-TIME CHAT - STICK OR TWIST?

Plenty to ponder for Supercup debutant Carlo Ancelotti. What has the decorated Italian got up his sleeve? More to the point, what have you got up yours? Think you can handle the pressure of being a coach? Prove it. Sign up to play the Official Fantasy Bundesliga now!

45+1' HALF-TIME - DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Cobwebs? Cobwebs? What cobwebs? Compelling stuff at the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK in the first competitive match-up of the new Bundesliga season. Dortmund arguably the better side, but the best chance of the half fell to Bayern. Don't go anywhere!

43' - DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Just signs that Bayern are beginning to find their customary swagger as Bürki hares off his line to prevent Robert Lewandowski from doing anything with Thomas Müller's threaded pass.

40' YELLOW CARD - DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Dembele hoofs the ball into the stands after the referee's whistle had already sounded. Didn't need to do it, but he is only 19! No arguing with that booking, though.

37' - VIDAL! - DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Javi Martinez stands up an inviting cross for Arturo Vidal, but the Chile international is foiled by a quite brilliant save from Roman Bürki and can only spoon over on the rebound!

35' MANU THE WALL - DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Another huge let-off for Bayern as Adrian Ramos ghosts past Mats Hummels and fires against the outstretched boot of Manuel Neuer!

32- DEMBELE! DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Dortmund continue to ask questions of Bayern. Ousmane Dembele draws a strong save out of Manuel Neuer, before firing over following a great bit of string-pulling from Shinji Kagawa. BVB looking the more likely...

28' YELLOW PERIL - DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Franck Ribery's not happy with Felix Passlack. The Dortmund youngster did catch the Frenchman, but both end up being shown yellow cards after a little tangle. Xabi Alonso also manages to talk his way into the referee's little black book.

25' CHANCE! - DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Franck Ribery in acres of space down the Bayern left. He finds David Alaba, but the Austria international doesn't catch it right and the ball deflects into the arms of Roman Bürki off Marc Bartra.

22' - DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Halfway through the first half - a good time to get your Official Fantasy Bundesliga heads on. Ousmane Dembele has looked very useful going forward for BVB, while Javi Martinez has been at his battering-ram best for Bayern. Here's a reminder of how to play:

16' - DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Dortmund shading the possession count 52 per cent to 48 percent as Bayern's David Alaba whips a ball into the arms of BVB goalkeeper Roman Bürki.

7' CHANCE! DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Mats Hummels goes to sleep as Dortmund go route one. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang collects Marc Bartra's raking long ball, but Javi Martinez comes across and puts the ball out for a corner.

6' CHANCE! DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Dortmund come again with Shinji Kagawa who fires just wide. Shaky stuff from Bayern.

5' - DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Energetic start from both sides in Dortmund. Javi Martinez with a strong tackle sets Franck Ribery away, but BVB get men behind the ball and clear. Ousmane Dembele on the prowl now, does Lahm for pace, but Bayern survive.

KICK-OFF - DORTMUND 0-0 BAYERN

Under way at a positively bouncing SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. Marcel Schmelzer wears the captain's armband for Dortmund tonight; Philipp Lahm for Bayern. Hold on tight!

It's only the warm-up, but the Yellow Wall is rocking! You cannot beat Dortmund's SIGNAL IDUNA PARK for atmosphere!

19:51 - CONFIRMED BAYERN LINE-UP

Carlo Ancelotti said he wants to win it and the Italian stays true to his word by naming arguably the strongest starting XI at his disposal. As expected, Mats Hummels lines up in defence against the club he left three months ago. Franck Ribery has shaken off a knock to start, meaning fellow Frenchman Kingsley Coman has to settle for a place on the bench alongside, among others, Germany international Joshua Kimmich and USMNT forward Julian Green.

19:35 - Star-studded subs' bench

Mario Götze is one of three FIFA World Cup winners on the Dortmund bench along with Roman Weidenfeller and Andre Schürrle. UEFA EURO 2016 champion Raphael Guerreiro, Turkey starlet Emre Mor and midfield metronome Julian Weigl could also feature as part of a rather tasty looking Plan B. FIFA 17 cover star Marco Reus is not due back from injury until mid-August.

19:30 - CONFIRMED DORTMUND LINE-UP

Thomas Tuchel hands summer signings Marc Bartra, Sebastian Rode and Ousmane Dembele their competitive debuts. Eighteen-year-old Felix Passlack, who was playing for the Under-19s this time last year, gets the nod at right-back!

17:47 - 2014 Highlights

Dortmund triumphed for a record fifth time in their last Supercup outing back in summer 2014. Bayern were their opponents on the day in a game best remembered for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Marvel-lous celebration. Jog your memory below:

17:28 - Dortmund belief

Despite what he said earlier, Tuchel knows he has bought wisely to compensate for the departures of Hummels, Ilkay Gündogan and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. With Marc Bartra, Ousmane Dembele and Emre Mor to name but a few of Die Schwarz-Gelben's new recruits, it is no wonder the BVB camp are quietly confident of doing the job tonight:

Fans are already soaking up the pre-match atmosphere in and around the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. Glorious conditions for the Bundesliga season's traditional curtain-raiser...

17:04 - 'Hard to end Bayern's dominance'

Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel says he holds no ill feeling towards former captain Mats Hummels following the Germany international's decision to return to boyhood club Bayern earlier this summer. He did, however, admit that losing one of the Bundesliga's most water-tight defenders makes BVB's task of overhauling Bayern all the more difficult.

"Mats made the decision to join one of the best clubs in the world," Tuchel said at Saturday’s pre-match press conference. "He's gone to a club that are actually a step up from Dortmund, but it's still a bitter pill to swallow because he's strengthened a rival in the process. It will be very hard to end Bayern's dominance. They have not lost any key players and have bolstered their ranks with Mats."

16:46 - 2015 Highlights

It was all going so well for Bayern in last summer's Supercup against VfL Wolfsburg, with Arjen Robben netting the opener early in the second half to become the competition's joint-leading scorer on three goals. The Bavarians looked to be on course for victory, only for Nicklas Bendtner to equalise a minute from normal time and force penalties. The Dane then delivered the knock-out blow from 12 yards as Wolfsburg handed Bayern their third Supercup defeat on the spin.

16:33 - On the spot

Incidentally, four of the previous 17 Supercups have been decided on penalties. Dortmund were involved in two of those spot-kick showdowns, edging 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 1996 and losing to Ruhr district rivals FC Schalke 04 in 2011. BVB are also the competition's record winners on five titles to Bayern's four. 16:19 - Penalty practice

Mindful of the fact the Bayern lost last year's Supercup to Wolfsburg on penalties, Carlo Ancelotti shows his men how it's done from 12 yards:
