Koen Casteels joined VfL Wolfsburg on 1 July 2015 from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. With regular No1 Diego Benaglio injured, Casteels filled in between the posts for the DFB Cup winners against Bayern on 1 August. With the score tied at 1-1 the match went to a penalty shootout, and the Belgian kept out Xabi Alonso's spot-kick to help the Wolves win 5-4.
