- Norbert Meier confirmed new Darmstadt coach.
- The 57-year-old succeeds Dirk Schuster, now at Augsburg.
- Meier was in charge of Bielefeld last term.
SV Darmstadt 98 have confirmed Norbert Meier as their new head coach.
The 57-year-old, who led DSC Arminia Bielefeld to Bundesliga 2 safety in the recently-concluded season, signed a two-year contract with the Lilies, tying him to the Hesse club until the end of the 2017/18 campaign.
"We're delighted that in Norbert Meier we’re getting in a coach that fits the bill perfectly," said club president Rüdiger Fritsch. "We’re convinced that his experience, knowledge and personality make him the right choice for Darmstadt 98."
Meier, a former Germany international, won promotion to Bundesliga 2 with Bielefeld in 2014/15. The former SV Werder Bremen midfielder is a familiar face to the German top flight, having been in charge of Fortuna Düsseldorf 95 in the 2012/13 season, although Meier’s charges were unable to avoid demotion that term.
