1. FSV Mainz 05 have completed the permanent signing of Jhon Cordoba, who played a key part in an impressive sixth-place Bundesliga finish last season and has now penned a four-year contract with the 05ers lasting until 2020.

The Colombian striker struck five times and set up a further two goals during a one-year loan spell from Spanish side Granada CF, which resulted in the Carnival Club triggering a release clause to sign him permanently.

“Jhon Cordoba put his mark on the second half of Mainz’s season with his dynamic and passionate playing style,“ said sporting director Rouven Schröder. “He is an outstanding striker and at 23 years old he still has time to develop and reach his full potential. We are happy that he will remain a member of our squad.“
