A look at the numbers from the game:

Bayern say goodbye

The Bundesliga champions will now return home to Germany, with just ten more days until they take on Borussia Dortmund in the Supercup.

Full time

The Bavarians pushed for an equaliser that would have taken the game to penalties, but Real held firm to secure a 1-0 win. Ancelotti will nevertheless be satisfied with a largely dominant display played at a good tempo as they look to get up to match fitness.

87' – Thiago goes off

The Spaniard is taken off and is replaced by Erdal Özturk, who scored the winner against Manchester City in a friendly earlier this summer.

84' - Benko goes close!

The substitute has looked sprightly since coming on and his shot from 25 yards out goes narrowly over.

79' - Madrid take the lead

Despite Bayern controlling most of the game it is Real who take the lead, with Danilo breaking the deadlock with a left-footed curler from the edge of the box.

77' - Javi Martinez substituted...

...and is replaced by Milos Pantovic.

73' - Not a bad attendance for a friendly...

68' - Alaba tests Casilla again

62' - Isco hits the post

The midfielder clips an effort off the upright - Real are getting closer here.

59' - Next Morata chance

Real left-back Marcelo intercepts a ball in the Bayern half and powers his way forward before flicking the ball with the outside of his boot to Morata, just inside the left-side of the penalty area. The striker cuts inside and attempts to curl a shot into the far corner, but it goes well wide.

56' - Bayern substitution

Alonso leaves the pitch to a warm ovation and is replaced by a player almost half his age, the 18-year-old Fabian Benko.

52' - Morata chance

The first real opportunity of the half falls to the Spanish side. Lucas Vasquez finds space down the right and fizzes a cross to Alvaro Morata on the edge of the box, but the striker's first-time strike goes harmlessly wide.

Second half!

Real Madrid get the action underway once more. No changes for Bayern at the break.

Half-time!

An entertaining opening 45 minutes with both teams looking to get forward whenever possible. Bayern have had more of the ball and come closer to scoring through Alaba and Thiago, but it's still 0-0.

39' - James lets rip

Not to be outdone by Thiago, Real attacker James Rodriguez unleashes a fierce long-distance shot of his own, but Sven Ulreich had it covered all the way as it flies wide.

33' - Thiago magic

Thiago picks the pull up in midfield a good 40 yards from goal. He drops a shoulder, skips away from his marker and rattles a stinging drive goalwards that Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla does well to save.

25' - Alaba hits the post

Bayern are awarded another free-kick in a similar position to their earlier one. Once again Alaba takes and his effort leaves the goalkeeper stranded but cannons off the post and out for a goal kick. So close!

21' - Classy Alonso

Xabi Alonso has just sprayed a couple of delightful cross-field passes straight to the feet of a team-mate. It is wonderful to watch, but his former side are still standing firm at the back. It is a rather lovely evening for football, is it not?

15' – Real on the attack

Isco turns away from Vidal on the left and shimmies into the box, but his cross into the middle is easily cleared by Bayern.

10' - Alaba goes close

Arturo Vidal is fouled by Sergio Ramos just outside the Real Madrid penalty area. David Alaba lines up the ensuing free-kick and his left-footed drive whistles just wide of the post.

6' – Lively opening

While neither side is at full strength due to injuries and extended holidays after international summer tournaments, they certainly appear to be going for it here. Bayern are dominating possession at the moment but are yet to carve out any chances.

KICK-OFF!

Bayern, playing in their traditional red jerseys, get the ball rolling in front of a packed out stadium, filled with a capacity 82,00 spectators. Real Madrid are in their classic all-white strips.
