Oscar Wendt

Age: 30

Club: Borussia Mönchengladbach

  • The only Gladbach player yet to miss a minute of action in the current campaign.
  • Has grabbed two goals, even scoring against FC Bayern with his right foot, and provided one assist.
  • Has had a hand in as many goals this season as he did in the entirety of 2014/15.
  • Has whipped in the most crosses of any Gladbach player.

Ricardo Rodriguez

Age: 23

Club: VfL Wolfsburg

  • With a record of 59 per cent of challenges won, Rodriguez is one of the Bundesliga’s most successful full-backs in the tackle.
  • The Swiss international rarely crosses the line and averages under one foul per appearance (ten fouls in 12 games).
  • Wolfsburg's dead-ball danger man made it into Matchday 3's Team of the Week after a goal and standout performance in a 3-0 win over FC Schalke 04.


Marcel Schmelzer

Age: 27

Club: Borussia Dortmund

  • Featured 15 times as BVB ended a fine Hinrunde in second.
  • An attacking threat: created 25 chances and was fouled 22 times.
  • Recorded one assist and completed over 81 per cent of his passes.
  • The Germany international is a man reborn under Thomas Tuchel.


Jonas Hector

Age: 25

Club: 1. FC Köln

  • A fine 2015 has seen Hector become Germany's first-choice left-back.
  • Played every minute as his side ended the Hinrunde in ninth and with the fifth-best defensive record in the top flight.
  • Has not only recorded two assists but has also created a remarkable 49 chances.
  • His first assist of the season was a crucial one to make it 1-1 against Hamburger SV on Matchday 3, with Köln going on to win 2-1. You can see highlights of that game here.
