But who has impressed most in the opening 16 games of the 2016/17 campaign and who has racked up the most points in their respective position? bundesliga.com breaks down the numbers of the top five forwards...
Watch: The Top 5 Official Fantasy Bundesliga players of the season so far:
1) Robert Lewandowski (FC Bayern München, 169pts)
Lewandowski sits third in the current scoring charts, but he tops the Fantasy leaderboard with an eye-watering 169 points. As well as striking 12 times in 16 appearances - a tally which includes one hat-trick and three braces - the Bayern striker has had more shots on goal than any other player in the Bundesliga, picking up 30 Fantasy points in the process. Having been named in the starting line-up on all but one occasion, the Poland international is a veritable gold mine when it comes to appearance points (46) and more often than not ends up on the winning side.
2) Anthony Modeste (1. FC Köln, 158pts)
Modeste has one more goal to his name than Lewandowski, but falls short of the Pole in the shots on goal and winning team departments. The Frenchman has also dropped points in defeats to Hertha Berlin, Eintracht Frankfurt and TSG Hoffenheim, whilst being heavily penalised for a penalty miss against Hamburger SV. He did score a hat-trick in that game, however, and has garnered more points for won duels (48) than his Bayern contemporary (36).
3) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund, 152pts)
Aside from being the current Bundesliga campaign's leading scorer with 16 goals, Aubameyang has not gone more than one game without finding the back of the net. Moreover, the Gabon international grabbed braces against 1. FSV Mainz 05, VfL Wolfsburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach and rattled off four goals in Dortmund's 5-2 win over Hamburg on Matchday 10. There is, nevertheless, room for improvement when it comes to duels won: 28 points is the lowest return of all forwards in our top five.
4) Sandro Wagner (TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, 150pts)
Wagner, on the other hand, has accrued almost half his total points return from duels won (60). The Hoffeheim striker has also made 15 starts, scored nine goals - including one brace and one match-winner - registered one assist and is the only player in our top five yet to taste defeat. His physicality does make him vulnerable to bookings, though: the German has been deducted three points for yellow cards.
5) Vedad Ibisevic (Hertha Berlin, 137pts)
Ibisevic was penalised three points for his two bookings and resultant red card against Mainz on Matchday 12, but by that stage the Hertha striker had already scored his third brace of the season to seal a 2-1 win. Although the Bosnian has not been able to add to his eight-strike season tally since, he is well worth a punt for won duels alone (50 points) - especially at his current bargain price tag of 11.3M.
