Leipzig's Boyd makes long-awaited comeback for USMNT
RB Leipzig's USMNT striker Terrence Boyd made a welcome return to action for his country in their 1-1 draw with New Zealand following a career-threatening injury layoff.
Boyd, now aged 24, tore an anterior cruciate ligament in December 2014 and has yet to appear for Leipzig since returning to fitness. But his appearance as a substitute late on in Washington DC is sure to boost his hopes of playing in the Bundesliga for the newly-promoted side.
He joined Leipzig from SK Rapid Wien in July 2014 with an impressive tally of 29 goals in 59 Austrian Bundesliga appearances.
USMNT coach Jürgen Klinsmann brought Boyd on to replace Jozy Altidore for a morale-boosting 13th international cap towards the end of the draw with the All Whites at RFK Stadium.
Leipzig travel to VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday, eager to maintain their unbeaten start to the Bundesliga season. Head to the Match Centre for all the pre-game build-up.
