The Expert: Manuel Neuer (FC Bayern München, 15.8m)
If you want to be in with a shout of winning some of the fantastic prizes up for grabs in the Official Fantasy Bundesliga, you need a goalkeeper who is going to provide a steady stream of points throughout the season. And who better than FC Bayern München and Germany number one, Manuel Neuer?
Yes, even 'The Expert' has misgivings about certain players going into a match day, but knowing that a Bayern victory and a clean sheet will earn your goalkeeper at least nine points (five for a clean sheet, three for completing the 90 minutes and one for being on the winning team) is extremely reassuring. In case you were wondering, Bayern won and kept a clean sheet in exactly half their league matches last term. Those alone would have earned Neuer an impressive 153 points. Need I say more?
The Coach: Robert Lewandowski (FC Bayern München, 15.7m)
It seems silly to pick FC Bayern München's Robert Lewandowski as an Official Fantasy Bundesliga must-have, but 46 per cent of users still don't have him in their sides. If you're not someone who alters their team week in, week out like I do, he's the perfect captaincy candidate.
The prolific Pole has had more shots on goal (31) than any other player, is joint-top of the goalscoring charts with five goals, and the fantasy upgrade is the perfect time to tinker with your team to free up the funds to draft in Bayern's star striker. Lewandowski is in double digits in four categories: he amassed 18 points from minutes played, 15 from goals scored, 14 from shots on goal and 12 from challenges won - proof that Lewandowski is an all-round fantasy phenom.
The Scout: Raphael Guerreiro (Borussia Dortmund, 11.3m)
My colleagues have a point: you have to have Neuer and Lewandowski in your team, but at the same time, they are two of the most expensive Bayern players in the game. My key man, by contrast, comes in at just 11.3 million and for me, comes ahead of Lewandowski in the pecking order.
Borussia Dortmund defender Raphael Guerreiro has already picked up 44 points, 35 of which have come from his only three starts of the season so far. If he had been named in the starting line-up in all six of BVB's games, it is fair to assume he'd be up there with Lewandowski for total points scored. And to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he does top the final standings come the end of the season. So sign him up and watch as the points flood in!
