As tired as they may have been after the long flight from northern Germany, the VfL Wolfsburg stars were certainly woken up upon their arrival in the northeastern Chinese city of Changchun when they were met by hordes of fans excited to see their heroes as part of the #BLWorldTour.

Liu Yuming (President of Changchun Yatai, a local football club): "We're really pleased to be able to welcome our friends from Wolfsburg back. VfL have a very, very strong team and we can learn plenty and try to develop from the game."

Wolfsburg face Changchun Yatai in a friendly on Wednesday, 18 May.

Klaus Allofs (Wolfsburg sporting director): "Tomorrow is not just about the result but also about the friendship between the clubs, which we intend to strengthen further. We're very happy that - after 2000, 2012 and 2014 - we can be welcomed in China for a fourth time. Not many Bundesliga clubs have done that and so in our case one can certainly talk about a tradition of exchange. We want to show in both games what the Bundesliga is capable of, and how well Wolfsburg can play football."
