FC Bayern München have announced the signing of 18-year-old Renato Sanches from SL Benfica on a five-year deal. The highly-rated Portugal international midfielder will join the club this summer.

'Dynamic, physical and technically gifted midfielder'

Sanches is considered one of the fastest rising talents in world football after shooting to prominence this season and, having completed his medical on Monday, put pen to paper on a contract lasting until 2021.

"Renato Sanches has been on FC Bayern's radar for a long time now," said executive board chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "We're delighted to have completed the signing despite notable interest from other big-name international clubs. Renato is a dynamic, physical and technically gifted midfielder, who’ll add even more strength to our team.”

“The transfer fee for the current international, who was voted the Shooting Star of Portuguese Football in his home country yesterday evening, is €35 million, plus possible bonus payments that could become due if for example the player is named in the World Team of the Year or FIFA World Player of the Year," said Bayern deputy chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen.
