As part of their preparations for the 2016/17 season, BVB will kick off the Champions Cup China against the Red Devils on 22 July in Shanghai, before closing the tournament against Man City in Shenzen "probably on 28 July, though the fixture has not yet been scheduled precisely", according to the club.

"We're delighted to be able to be taking part in such a high-quality tournament," said Dortmund’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke. "They will be great games for both players and spectators.

"Over the last few years we have regularly welcomed large fan groups and media contingents from China to the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK in Dortmund. It is now our wish to pay them a return visit. We're really pleased to be able to find out what our fans in China want and experience the growing popularity of football in China at first hand."

Prior to the trip to China, Die Schwarz-Gelben will undertake a number of training sessions in Dortmund as well as visiting a training camp in the Kitzbühel Alps. Upon their return from China, BVB will take part in a training camp in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland at the start of August.
