The Bundesliga is guaranteed one representative in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League after the two remaining participants Schalke and Borussia Mönchengladbach were paired together in Friday's draw.

The two sides currently tenth and 11th in the Bundesliga – with the Royal Blues only ahead on goal difference – will meet over two legs, on 9 and 16 March, in an intriguing all-Bundesliga last-16 clash.

When they met in October, Schalke won 4-0 at the VELTINS Arena

That was Schalke's first win of the season and it sparked a seven-game unbeaten run, while the Foals picked up just three points from their seven subsequent fixtures.

The Westphalian rivals are due to meet in the Bundesliga at Borussia Park on Matchday 23, five days before the first leg of their Europa League tie in Gelsenkirchen, meaning they will face each other three times in the space of 12 days.
