The unmistakable locks of legendary striker and current Bayer 04 Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Völler make an appearance on Day 22...

As a player, Völler represented Kickers Offenbach, TSV 1860 Munich, SV Werder Bremen, AS Roma, Olympique de Marseille and Leverkusen. He enjoyed international success with Germany, winning the 1990 FIFA World Cup, four years after finishing as a runner-up. As a coach, he took Germany to the 2002 World Cup final, before fleetingly stepping into the dugout at former clubs Leverkusen and Roma. He has been sporting director at Die Werkself since 2005. Here are a few more standout career statistics...

  • Völler scored just four penalties in the Bundesliga - all for Leverkusen in the 1994/95 season.
  • He is the only Germany head coach to have contested the Bundesliga relegation play-off (2001).
  • Was sent off just once in his career: in the last 16 of the 1990 World Cup against the Netherlands.
