In bundesliga.com’s Advent calendar competition, we are offering you the chance to win one of over 240 brilliant prizes, including signed shirts and other Bundesliga memorabilia. All you need to do is watch a video clip and decide if the player in question scored a goal or not. Simple!
Popping out from behind the calendar door on 7 December is Eintracht Frankfurt hero Alexander Meier.
It is hard to imagine Meier playing for any other club, but it was not until 2004 - following spells at SG Rosengarten, TuS Nenndorf, TSV Buchholz 08, Hamburger SV, MSV Hamburg and FC St. Pauli - that he made the move to Frankfurt. The rangy striker endeared himself to Eintracht fans almost immediately, helping the Eagles gain promotion to the Bundesliga in his debut season at the Commerzbank Arena. He stayed loyal to the cause when they were relegated in 2011 and enjoyed his most prolific campaign to date in 2014/15, his 19 Bundesliga goals earning him the coveted Torjägerkanone. Allow us to treat you to a few more factoids on Frankfurt's fabled Fußball-Gott (football God)...
- Meier is Eintracht Frankfurt's first German national to be crowned Bundesliga top scorer.
- He represented Hamburg's two main clubs (Hamburger SV and FC St. Pauli) but failed to find the net in the Bundesliga for either one of them.
- Frankfurt fans have penned a song about the former Germany Under-21 international entitled 'Fußball-Gott'.
